Shaman decisions... Mystic over Defiler?

<p>Hello!</p><p>I'm after a warding class, played a Fury to death and wanted to rolla Defiler - been told they're preferable over mystics for raiding (why?) although i don't raid much, how do Mystics fair at grouping and such?  I see Mystics get a heal after the ward expires, seems very nice, do Defilers get anythign similar?</p><p>Looked over on the Defiler forum, and they seem like a bitter bunch!  So asking me questions here <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  Overall I'd be very group focused so soloing isnt a massive thing I'd do - but the wards looks more funky from a Mystic point of view.  Am I missing something from the Defiler aspect?</p><p>Other main thing, the 52/55/58/65 spells, which do what for which classes?  The Defiler list is broken, and I can't remember what I read here about 30 mins ago <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>Thanks guys!</p>

<p><span style="color: #ff9900;">My toon has been <b>Mystic - Defiler - Mystic </b>I was a defiler from lvl 62 -70 then betrayed back when ROK came out.I had more wards as defiler, but wasnt so good at healing. ( from my point of view ). I cant remember if the defiler-ward gave a healing after it, but i think it did.But for both classes its only if there is anything left from the ward, that it gives it as a heal.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff9900;">I felt I struggled to heal my group back up as Defiler..if anything went wrong i couldnt really "ward" them back to life.I didnt like that most of my debuffs was <b>SingleTarget </b>, and I missed having the ability to debuff a whole group -encounter like when i was a mystic.When I was raiding i felt best in the Maintank group, mostly because i felt rather handikapped elsewhere, I couldnt work with my spells / buffs to its fully potential. If I was in the Offtank group the buffs on the OT wasnt doing much good unless he was getting hit. I couldnt do more than debuff and use my groupward for the group...and SinlgeTarget heal the Maintank.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff9900;">As a Mystic I feel im doing a good job just like the defiler in the MT group, only think I dont have is the <b>Stuncure </b>that defilers have.But other than that, im doing just as well.If im in the Offtank group im not nearly as handikapped. I can Bolster the MT, I can put Stoicism on him , i can put Ancestral Sentry on him. And when we Singletarget heal the heal aslo gives a small HP-buff to the tank, that lasts around 10 seconds. So even if the tank is green at the moment we toss our heal on him, ts not wasted...cause he will have a small buff on him. I think the HP-buff is around 250 extra HP on the heals.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff9900;">When it comes to soloing, I cant even tell you how much easier it is as a Mystic. We get very nice Combatarts.  Soloing is alot harder as Defiler, at least I thought so when i was one.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff9900;">I agree that many Defilers is a bitter bunch, at least ive had that impression. They are so used to being Uber..or Feeling uber because they are alwasy in the MT group, and for soem reason they think that is the only place to be to show how uber you are. They are used to being ontop of the HealingParse. Or maybe they have even been fooling themselves into thinking they are so uber so that they actually began beliving it themselves, and when the truth cought up with them then they cant handle it. </span></p><p><span style="color: #ff9900;">I dont regret gonig back to mystic at all...I would never ever go back to Defiler.</span></p>

As a person who has played both classes, I feel exactly the same as Verrie.  My mystic now sits at level 70, fully armored, mastered and maxed out at EOF levels while I'm playing the defiler our guild helped power level to 80 because we needed one for raiding.  Every defiler we'd invited to guild in the past 2 years has been a terrible disappointment.  They're just not very nice people, for the most part, and I never really understood until I started playing one.  Defilers are just not as much fun or as helpful to a group as mystics... period.  Now, don't get me wrong!  I've met a few defilers who are also nice, but they're already happily guilded and, wonder of wonders, have a bit of humility about them because they're intelligent enough to know better.There are lots of reason why defilers are not as much fun as mystics, but, suffice it to say that I dearly miss playing my mystic.  However, I'm getting better at being a defiler and, just in case I REALLY start turning into one, I've told the mystic in our guild to be sure to slap me down if I start acting like all those nasty defilers out there in Norrath.  I hope it never happens, but I can sure see why they have to struggle so hard to make the world believe that they're better than mystics and why mystics are just mellow enough to smile and let them play their little power games because, they know better.Enjoy being a mystic.  You're not missing anything but some decent power regen ability and a spell that lets you remove stun/stifle from your group about once every two minutes.Oh yeah... and, this was pretty funny...  We're raiding and the group got hit with an aoe because the mob got away from the tank (tank ganked, in other words) and I was trying to heal, heal, heal... only... I'm a defiler, so my heals actually COST me health, only... I didn't have enough health to heal!  Oh yeah... enjoy being a mystic.

<p><span style="color: #ff9900;">Back in EOF Defilers had the advantage over us cause they had the canabalism spell, the normal spell...and the one from Defiler-AA tree.I have to say i hardly never ever runs out of power nowdays. Im one of the healers with most power thanx to RoK's nice powerprocing things.When I was a defiler i used the AA-canibalism sometimes...and have to say I didnt like having to give away so much of my health to get power back. I was always worried about an AoE hitting and me being low on health due to cannibalism.With my mystic i hardly use the Heart ´n Shards either. Defilers have lost that advnatage over us now.Our Ancestry makes things proc <b>ALOT</b> more often than defilers can get. IT gives you 3% extra proc chanse on items...and that helps loads.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff9900;">And yes like Isinofre said...giving away health for the normal heals isnt very handy either. It works aslong as the HP-rgen spell you have is keeping up with the loss. But when it doesnt...then you are in trouble. If you happen to be low on health...due to AoE..and have to heal members back to life...then you are screwed...you cant do anything. Your Soulward doesnt work...your heals aint doing anything good...cause they all cost health. You cant regen back power...cause it costs health.Defilers are abit like Coercers....they do their job best in only one place...the Maintank group...if they are placed anywhere else they loose alot of their work...just becasue most of their spells are made that way.And the diffrence between a Coercer and a Defiler...is that the Coercer usually accepts and knows that he does less good job outside the MT group...but the Defiler has got such a pride, that they refuse to se their own limits.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ff9900;">Yes there are some really nice Defilers out there...one of them I raid with often. She hasnt grown a big head...but those ppl are very few.I heard defilers saying they envy us for having so many encounter-debuffs.<img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/e8a506dc4ad763aca51bec4ca7dc8560.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /> Its time for Defilers to step down from their high horse and get back down to earth !</span></p>
