Hey guys been scanning these forums since i started playing my monk and have gotten alot of good information, thanks for providing it all.

Well, I am now level 53 and I have 2 level 52 crafted batons, they are made from the rares of this level, i can't remember the name of them since I can't log in lol, My question is what weapon should I buy, I kind of wanted a slow 2 hander also but I don't really know much about what is good with 2 handed staffs etc, any advice on this would be great, thanks in advance for any help.

My current AA set up is all in the brawler line, i think i have like 44 AA's, i have in STA line 4/4/8/6/2 i love mantis leap it is so monkly =p hehe. The INT line I have 4/4/8/3 I will be maxing it so i can get the 75% crit thing. Any advice on AA after where I am at would be appreciated also, Since I will have to start putting points in the Monk line since I will cap in the Brawler line, thanks again guys

Discipline 53 Monk, Kithicor

This is what I have found.
There are three things to keep in mind when looking for weapons. You can get a good amount of damage from either a really nice 2h or from 2 1h weapons. I have had great parses with both types, so it’s honestly more of a preference. In both, the most important things to look for are:

Delay

It’s easier to find a higher delay weapon in a 2h. If you’ve been looking, I am sure you’ve noticed that it’s basically impossible to find a 1h monk usable weapon with anything higher than a 2.5 second delay or so. The reason delay is so important to our class is the higher the delay, the more damage output. Say you have a weapon with a 2 second delay, and a weapon with a 4 second delay. You will get the procs on your weapon and skills to go off more on the higher delay weapon. Although it may seem like you’re losing hits with a higher delay, you aren’t. Especially due do the gear in the new expansion, you will get haste. We also get a handy raid wide buff that will improve your attack speed. Therefore, where it seems you are losing attacks, you actually aren’t, because your buffs will make the 4 second delay come down. The main thing is, you still get the proc benefit of the original delay. In conclusion, the best thing for you to look for in weapons is a delay of atleast 3 seconds if at all possible. You will get more bang for your buck, so to speak.

Spread

The spread of a weapon is the lowest amount it will hit for, to the highest amount it will hit for. The better the spread, the more damage it will do. I take weapons with a higher spread almost always over stats, unless there is an insane difference between the two. The damage rating, listed on an item if you examine it, is determined by the spread of the weapon. The higher the damage rating, the more damage the weapon itself will do.

Stats and Procs

Stats and procs are important in letting you know what a weapon is going to do for you. Although I find myself more inclined to choose a weapon for its stats last, they are still an overall factor in deciding what you want to use. Unless the stats have a major differential, it’s almost always going to be better to go for a higher delay weapon with a better spread, rather than one with a little better strength, stamina and agility.

In Conclusion to Weapons

So, all in all, the best thing to look for is either a couple of 1h weapons with a 2.5 or higher delay, with a high end base damage, and a decent rating, or a 2h weapon with a 3 second or higher delay with the same stuff listed for the 1h.
