Yeah, Chelsith Trash. Seriously though, [Removed for Content] SOE, all the other starters are a nice little clicky on the ground or a solo trash mob, and we have to kill some of the toughest heroics in the game just for a CHANCE at our epic starter??

bah... if as a wizzy I couldn't kill Chelsith trash I would be really angry right now

Won't be able to check on this until tonight, but a follower of Ro comment would be either the diety starter guy in BB or a NPC inside SolRo.

Gee first Chelsith then Deep chadok meanwhile Ills, Coercers, and Furys have finished epic group already. Many classes having greys to kill for upodates. Anyone feeling SOE again stuck a thumb in the wizzie's eye. Where exactly is the balance of challange for each class?

Ya I am whining, just gets old. I posted about our starter in gameplay only to have a moderator move it to gu42 feedback where it was buried in PvP whines. Nice move hiding a gamplay balance issue like that.

The Wizard epic in EQ1 sucked, too. I spent a week solid in Kedge Keep permakilling Phinney. It took killing him 27 times before he dropped that damned Blue Crystal staff. Then it got even worse! The Broken/Enraged golems in Fear, and at that time Fear was hardest zone in the game. I still have nightmares about some of the corpse runs I helped out on in there. One of them took six hours before we got everyone out of there safely. But in the end it was all worth it, the Staff of the Four was a great item with Barrier of Force. I am hoping the EQ2 one has something similar. I miss Barrier of Force.

Yeah, it is tough but I am hoping these are two of the harder parts for our group version and we dont have to kill some 85^^^ with friends that is way under-conned like my guildie Necro did for one of his steps...ended up dying 6 times trying to do it with one group and had to end up getting out of group healing to keep tank up! However, knowing us we will get a 86^^^!

A note on the starter. You'll need the Koada'dal language primer to get the quest started. Picked it up from Scribe Hilja Saraste (297,124,230) next to the Kel bank

We got a freakin bone for an epic item! It looks so simple and stupid compared to all the other epic weapons. I'm disappointed. I think the artists could have put more effort into it. The necro wand looks great and the epic dagger looks great.

ANd what exactly does that proc mean?

Adds normalized spell damage based on 15% of the wizards intelligence.

Does that mean we get an extra 15% int, or does that mean say we have 900 int,it procs and ups damage of spells by 135int, but would this be based off fo the upper part which is already deep into diminishing returns or the lower part when each point on int actually means something. I mean I am already sitting at around 1150 int in a raid why would I even care about the extra 15% int, it will add virtually no damage and a good part of my spells are already close to int cap in a raid. The wording of this proc is extremely vague and a little clarification would be nice, I dont have it as of yet, but would like to understand what that means.

shadowgate
02-08-2008, 03:49 PM
I read it as adding 15% spell damage based on your INT. So if you had 1000 INT it would add 150 spell damage.

Denaso@Butcherblock wrote:
That is how I read it as well. And, is that a great big "meh" of an epic or what?
Well it may not be huge but I think at least it is an improvement on our current legendary weapon options...but I could be wrong. It seems better than Staff of the Impaler if you consider it is one handed and better than Crystal Plasma Wand (the best one hander).

I'm just ticked it's a wand... Doesn't everyone else's image of a traditional wizard have a huge 2 handed staff with a crystal on it or something? Forget the one handed stuff. I'm just upset about the fact that it's a one hander. Was hoping to look totally B.A. , but that's out the window now.

Well, unless this was the most "BA" 2 hander ever, a wand and a "BA" ranged/secondary item will always give better stats. Some swirling particle effects would make it look so much better than those [Removed for Content] twirling rings on it that no one will ever notice. You HEAR me SOE ... we want particle effects because there cool and make every one lag in a raid.

Doh, seems the Kotiz doesnt always drop the update...thinking this is bugged and it seems Templar's are getting a work around. The good is that means a bit less competition for the named but this guys is tough enough to get to and kill AND has a fairly long respawn which should mean he drops it on each kill....especially since it is only one drop per kill...if he drops it!!!QUESTS

Defilers will be able to find their obsidian!

Dirges, take note! Today i saw a wizard trying to get a PU group ! after 7 hours here he was still without success.I could go there (yesterday) with my guild for a 3 hours camp and other wizz got it (but he well deserves it, that's another point)... of course after 3 hours they were bored and we decided that I'd get it... another day, with a group strong enough to run along and look at both nihilists and him.It is easier to find a good group for a hard fight, but short, than a good group for some hours of waiting a spawn. I can understand that, it is a GAME, ain't it ? and I am not sure that camping a named, killing one mob each 5 minutes is a great pleasure. hehe I already did that a lot in SOS, do you remember ?

SEBILIS Basement update was the hardest by far imo... however I was able to get the Ring of Negative Energy update in the basement from First Liutenant Rixol (loc -10, -131, 307).

While on the way to Kotiz, you come to some gates guarded by sentinels, beyond which are Golems and the 2 paths, one to whipcrakers (left) and one to Hall of Deth (right). Before going through the gates, backup to the hallway and continue straight. The Liutenant is in that room. Yes, our epic quest is "fairly" simple other than two steps (You need groups for Chels and the KC step but they could be a PUG so that isnt hard). The third step where you have to get the drops in Deep Chardok and have to get one specific one to start getting the updates and you have to really do it is one "general" area (where the twin stair cases are seems best). The third step saw me getting the first need drop on the way to the throne room... I was lucky. Then after taking down the Queen for our Necro's update. By that time it as nearly one am but my guild group went back to the stair area and farmed the drops for nearly 2 hours to get my all four of my drops...lots of repeats...my final update actually came from another groups kill that was heading to take down the Queen and left the body behind! The third to last step is Deep Sebilis and if I hadn't had the use of a guild Conjurer I would still be doing this step! It took me three kills to finally get the drop off Kotiz and there where at least three other times that he was killed by another group as we where trying to form up. This is a real PITA and really requires a dedicated guild to support you on... unless you get really lucky! I can see many people going nuts (I was) with these two steps as you are not even going to always get what you need on the first attempt and if you don't have a dedicated group/guild you are in trouble.

I now have six kills on Master Arcanist Guroth , one kill on one of the Nihilist (I forget which) , and one kill on Praetorian Captain Nagol, still nothing! Not to mention who knows how many place holders and a few other named in the z one. I am doing good if a group I find even gives me a shot at a kill on a mob that alledgely drops the update!I am at two or three wipes trying to get to Kotiz the Death Bringer, one of which was a group of 12!This situation is crazy! How, exactly, is this step supposed to be a "group" step? Everyone else can go in an get an update, not wizards! We do not even get a "no quest item found" message, we get nothing! It is even worse when people ask what you need. How is one supposed to explain this situation? And, the drop is a body drop? What is up with that? I am just hoping the item can not be mis looted. How is one supposed to put together a group for a crazy long camp? If helping others with their epic quests, you are in and out. But the wizard is in and camp forever. There is nothing fair to anyone, especially the other group memebers, about this situation.Situations like this are the reason people give up on this game.-LeucippusEdit: I think the camp on Master Arcanist Guroth for four of those kills was about four hours!

If it is designed to be that way and not bugged, then this is F... stupid quest design. Shame on quest designer.

I have tried 2 times. The first time I was following an x4 team to find out where Kotiz was. Luckly enough Kotiz was up when the team got there. The x4 raid team was trying to help me to get update. One group dropped from the raid and I was able to join the team. We killed Kotiz with one group, and no update for me. The corpse disappeared fairly quickly, no update.

The 2nd time I was in a team with a templar. The team was not strong enough to kill Kotiz, however there was another 2 groups there helped us since we wiped a few times. The other 2 groups killed trash mobs and we pulled Kotiz. Again, no update, the teamplar got his update in a chest drop.

This make no sense right now comparing with other class' epic group update. Here is two options that could improve this situation and make a more enjoyable game experience.

1. Considering the sebilis basement is very tough area and Kotiz is 86^^^ with 4 hours timer, make Kotiz kill with an auto update. It will be more enjoyable if you form a strong dedicated team with 4 hours work to complete one one single mission. If it is a rare drop, then people will certainly give up fairly quickly for non-hardcore gamer. Not sure how many people are enjoying play lottery.

I think this is fair since most of the time you only need to spend less then 4 hours to clear x4 raid zone, a group epic update shouldn't be harder then that.

2. More named could drop the update, however tell us if there is no update from the named so we know.

--Elumi

People who've had these experiences should post over in the quests section here on the boards-expecting a dev to actually read the wizard forums is so funny it's sad. At least over there you get occasional dev feedback and stuff gets fixed once it gets brought to their attention. Since no other class has run into this bad of farming issues without it being corrected in a couple of days, I have to believe there is a mistake here that won't get fixed without bringing it to their attention. I'd start the post, but I haven't had personal experience with it and know it wouldn't be taken seriously without some people who have actually been through it saying something.

Well, happy day!

I've been running Seb as much as possible on the PVP server and trying to even GET to the necro at the bottom was virtually impossible...last night I went in to help someone kill Master Arcanist Guroth and surprise surprise it dropped both the ring I needed and the other guy's update at the same time (in an ornate chest).

I've camped the Nihilists in the past with a group...killed them many times, for many hours, and got nothing.

This is definitely the hardest part of the Group Epic - if you're on this step just go in with any group you can, as often as you can, and kill as many names as you can. DO NOT go in with another wizard in group, that's just asking for trouble. I'm starting to think it could drop off all of the names in there so just go in expecting to farm or help someone else with their epic and you may get lucky!
