It's been many months since there's been any official comments on it as far as I know. Another one of those "soon" type deals...probably won't hear much if anything about it until it's ready.

Hopefully they will put a bit more "meat" on the legs of the female SOGA models.

WILDFIRES. Don't you understand how a natural disaster that lasted a week could delay features for months? Come on...

I am betting the next offical response will be something in line with:"We are sorry to inform you that the entire dev team working on the skeletal revam project has been abducted by aliens, and with a heavy heart, we had to shut the entire project down."bleh...

I remember playing Everquest 1 and Smedley (da big man!) coming out around the release of Gates of Discord stating they were going to revamp all character models!!! Um, that was like 5 years ago... I think they scrapped that with no official word. Was a real let down on the community and probably helped to attribute so many frustrated players that went to WoW upon release. Can't blame them when a company has a track record of making empty promises to it's community.

I forget where I read it, but someone said something about the skeletal models forming one bodytype and characters having the option of a Soga or non-Soga head.

I really wish there was a link to a dev statement or article released by SOE that had this information in it so I could know for sure what's happening. As a sig artist, I'll admit to being panicked by my lack of knowledge on this revamp, and the fact that it's all been players saying what's going on and not a word from the devs (who've remained annoying tight-lipped on it) does little to reassure me. I want to know exactly how it'll affect character appearances and whether or not I'll be slaving at my computer for the next year revamping signatures that I've made.

/headdesk

personally im glad we havent heard anything i think this means they are working really hard on this project so if we dont see it for 5 years than we will just have to live with what we got and hope they are really amazing.

Right now guild halls are definitely expansion bait. Undoubtedly, the skeletal reavmp may be also. Shame to waste two baits for one fish, so one or the other is at least 2 years away.

I prefer the old models. I have my toons set up to look good for that mode. Yet others are viewing my toons as ugly, unkempt SOGA models because I haven't bothered to fix them up in that view. It will be better to have one set of models. If they give people the option for a SOGA or a regular head, that should be the option for the player, not the viewer. I want everyone to view me as I set me up.

"Soga models suck" and "Regular models suck" arguments and opinions aside...The lack of communication regarding some of the highly anticipated features despite their progress (or lack thereof) is rather disconcerting. Lotus had stated before his departure that we would receive an update to this nearly completed feature sooner than later, but alas, it's been many, many months, and despite the community asking, there hasn't been even a little bit of information, screenshots, questions answered, etc.It would be nice to get some actual hard factoids about this highly anticipated (or highly dreaded, depending on how you look at it) revamp, if anything, to dispel all the rumors floating around.

It's been what, 7, 8 months since any red name even mentioned the Skeletal Revamp?

Something would be nice. A status update, with screenies. Some headsup about whats stage they're at. An ETA. A sentence about it still being worked on with no estimated time of completion, or a statement as to it no longer being worked on and why. Anything really. A smidgeon, a scrap. A hint of a clue to a crumb, something.

Check out this video and listen in at around the 0:55 markhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HokbrASX-uoMakes you wonder what happened during development. Sounds like they said in 2002 that they were going to have a system in place that the current skeletal revamp is supposed to be.Interesting things:- The look of the male human- The Ogre's helmet, around the 1:10 mark- Paladin armor, human female, around 1:30 mark- Language decifering on armor? around 3:40 mark (did he say something about armor sets for different races??)Honestly, it just makes you wonder what happened between E3 2002 and November 8, 2004.

The new skelatal systemThe new map systemand guild halls will be out when its done likely before the next expansionraid zone shard of hate Kurns towerraid loot revamp who knows when it will be done. actually who is the new lead artist for eq2?My only hope is that the skelatal system is done with enough time that the artisit department has the models before programing begins for the next expansion. This way it will be eaiser and quicker for them to create more diverse armour.

I'm not 100% sure that 2002 EQ2 video that they were talking about skeletal system."Now, for the end user, it's kinda transparent, but for us, we have to create lots of content this way, just by resizing and readjusting the textures, we can build one set of armor that fits across the whole array of characters."Sounds to me like how EQ2 works now. Each armor piece has to be resized and readjusted for the various body types, thus creating a LOT of content.Funny to hear about class and subclass being decided later as EQ2 was at launch.

That is not the case they have to build the armor over and over for every race. That is why the armor is bland. What he quoted from what the dev said is the skeletal revamp weve been waiting for since 2004. Something happend between 2002 and 2004 and they droped the skeletal system where things auto scaled. It would have been a good thing if implemented. But since it was not was a horible thing. I hope the revamp comes soon so we can get what we were shown back in 2002.
