I don't think I quite get how the spell is supposed to work. Last night in Unrest a member of the group aggroed a mob we were not supposed to, and I figured I would cast anesthesia on it (he had no DoTs on), and take the death... nope, didn't work. Others in the group still had aggro.Am I missing something? I thought it was supposed to wipe the memory of the target off all aggression, except me. Do buffs mess it up too? In this case it just seems really useless.

Anesthesia only works if no one in the group gets agro from the mob after the memwipe. From raiding with my coercer I have found out that our hate transfer, any hate transfers from others, group wards / reactives and the mystic group buff all mess it up.

I only use the spell in certain situations now where I usually cancel all buffs that may effect it and ask the group I am in not to cast group heals.

It does have its uses but I have found them few and far between.

No, I tried when the mob had no DoT left on it and it didn't work either.

anesthesia/amnesia completly wipes agro list and let just u on it. best use for this spell is

1. raid is dying one by one and there is no chance to recover, then stop all dmg, cast amnesia and let mob kill you (sometimes someone will be killed too until mob will kill you) - mob resets and let left of raid be.

2. MT dies so some healer will ress him without sickness, until MT is self buffed u let mob on OT or killing DPSers :))) then cast amnesia/anesthesia and tought snap so your tank can build agro back

Well apparently it doesn't work that way, because it didn't work for me...

It sounds like you may have just got unlucky (maybe resisted or something). Without knowing what happened when you cast it there's no way of giving you any helpful advice on what went wrong.

I would just give it another go

What happened is - someone AEd something they shouldn't have. I asked people to stop attacking, and waited until all DoTs were gone, and used it. The mob went to me and killed me, and then proceeded to kill everyone else.

I have noticed the same thing the memwipe works but the encounter reset does not. I was thinking it may be bugged.

Edit: This is only with Anesthesia I have never had any issues with Amnesia.

Amnesia only works super well when the mob is already pulled far enough away to reset after clearing its hate list. If the mob was a wanderer who was nearby and got AoE'd, he was likely rampaging within his leash range anyway - so basically, after you died, he was still standing where he was supposed to be... and then prox agro'd the rest of the team.Normally what happens when I get a memwipe off successfully is that he runs around and kills a few more people after I go down... then he wanders away and ignores the rest of the people standing there clenched up and ready to bite floor.

Gah I should have mentioned - the mob was non aggro in the first place. It was a NPC we're supposed to save in Unrest. That's why I don't understand why it didn't work.

Ah, it was the ghost? Yeah, you pretty much have to eat the wipe on that guy to get him to reset.
