Good Brian!

The root (at adept 3, Don't have the 120p) seems to be nearly worthless solo. Is it aftershock?

Also I notice it break early, when the mob takes no damage. Do they get a save or something every so often. I thought taking damage was the only reason that the mob had a chance of breaking it.

Solo combat seems to be, Root, debuff, root, damage, root, da, dang root again, da, dang root again, da, root, move back, root, da, dang root again, damage, root, root, da, root, da, root, move, root, da, root, revive. (da is start a damage spell and cancel it because the root broke, and for damage I am not talking DoTs, I just use the big DDs)

I was looking at the warlock tank thread, but really seems to [Removed for Content] damage.

Is aftershocks my problem? Is adept 3 that bad?

ok learn to adapt,

Just a suggestion use this spell order works real well, cast both roots then Catalyts, freehand, Armageddon, Destruction, Encase and then flames if its not dead already. Once in a while the root break but its either feared or is about to hit you but gets stunned by encase long enough for you to finish it off with flames.

Dont get hung up on roots breaking its not the end of the world as we know it.

Laretha 80 Warlock Najena

Title should be aftershock = broken.A bit off topic, but unless it is your absolute last 21 AP's, drop the explosives line. The increase to the spells is minimal, and there are few enough encounters anyhow. Worst of all I am told by people who would know what they are talking about (t8 raiding guild, cleared VP multiple times already), that they have parsed aftershocks itself, and it is buggy. Even if it were not buggy, it is worthless on anything but long encounter fights where it has alot of chances to proc, otherwise it's dmg does not justify 21 AP's.Just some side advice.

Also when soloing, avoid using dots of any kind, period. And stack BOTH roots, the red AND green one, even on a single mob, this helps quite a bit.Don't be afraid to liberally use Null Caress, it's cooldown is not long and it is imo one of our best spells, it WILL save your butt.If you get good at using the roots quickly combined with the snare from Flames of Velious and Null Caress, you can easily (as I do) fight 3-4 RoK mobs at once by keeping them off of you and rooted, and then just burning them down.Forget tanking them.

Reapply root and keep stun ready.Only with ^^^ or nameds you have to use double-roots coz you can't afford them to hit you once or twice. Other than that single rooting will do the job just fine.

Certain mobs in RoK are very resistant to roots/able to break root early. As said above just keep an eye out on the icon for your root(s), and if doing ^^^ mob keep both roots on it (don't be nuking if green root has broken and not available to you be patient) A bit off topic but 1 or 2 of the mob types in skyfire occaisionally reflect root on you which can be a pita since you are now rooted and the mob isn't (wyverns and possibly the drakes too)
