Surepaw is the son of a famous pirate, or so his Mother told him in grand stories of pirating and treasure hunting. He remembers these stories being told to him as bed time stories by his mother, he did not know his father, as he had left before Surepaw was born. As a child, Surepaw would pretend he was a pirate, like his father, and would run through the land, jumping and playing as if fighting with a sword, building his agility and speed without even knowing it, he just knew he was having fun. His mother would often tell him not to wonder off too far, there was a war on, and not everyone in Norrath was kind to young Kerras, but he always did. He was a pirate, a big boy, he could take care of himself. He often was punished for such things, but being a Kerra, punishment did not phase him, he was stubborn and would do what he wanted to do, regardless what his mother told him. His father was a courageous pirate, and that meant he was one as well. "Bring on the bad men, as man of the house I can take care of myself and my family too" He would often say.One day, Surepaw again was playing pirate, his favorite thing to do. This day he was going past Farmer Liontails feild, into the forest. He had no idea what was in the forest, or beyond it for that matter, but he would often dream that the ocean lied beyond the forest, and he would be able to see ships, real life ships!!He entered the forest, he knew if he told his mother she would forbid it, so he did not tell her, he just slipped out while she took a nap, as she often did during the day. But this day was not a typical day. After Surepaw entered the forest, he noticed it was dark, and the daylight could barely make it through the trees. This did not bother him much, as he has excellent night vision. While in the forest, he noticed a slight bright flash , but did not think much of it. a few minutes later, he heard a loud explosion. The fierce sound of the explosion scared him and he ran for a bit and hid in an old rotten tree stump for a few minutes, after which he continued exploring the dark forest.Surepaws mother was awoken to the sound of a loud explosion, she ran outside to see one of the moons had exploded. The first thing she thought about was her son, Surepaw. She yelled for him, but he did not answer, she ran all over looking for him. After looking for a while, the sky began to rain rocks from the exploding moon. She had a to find her son before these rocks hit him, they had to find shelter. After looking everywhere she could think of she decided she would look for him down by Farmer Liontails feild. She knew Surepaw was a stubborn Kerra, and the farmers field, even tho it was a long ways off, was not beyond her sons thinking.Surepaw felt a sense that something was wrong, and decided to head back. He started to head back home, but after running from that loud noise, he was lost, and all the trees looked the same. Surepaws mother found her way to Farmer Liontails feild, looked all over. She was in a panic now, had no idea where to look, she was so focused on finding her son she did not see the fireball come from the sky. When the fireball hit, it did not hit her, but it hit close enough to her to throw her a ways away and catch her clothes on fire.Surepaw saw a flash coming from his left, he was scared, but thought maybe that was daylight, or maybe something bad. He decided to go see, if it was daylight, great, if not, he was fast, he would run away.Farmer Liontail heard the explosion in his field, he went out to investigate and found Surepaws mother lying on the ground, her clothes on fire. She was alive, but in very bad shape.Surepaw finally found his way out of the forest, it was daylight and he felt some relief. Then he saw the large rock smoldering in Farmer Liontails field. He also saw the farmer carrying something, or was that someone?he ran to see if he could help, only to find the farmer was carrying his mother. For 2 days Farmer Liontail, his wife, and Surepaw nursed Surepaws mother, but it was to no end, Surepaws mother died at the end of the second day. Surepaw blamed the death on Farmer Liontail and not doing enough to save her, but he knew deep down that it was the fact that he had wondered off that had eventually killed his mother. He was brought in to live with Farmer Liontail and his wife, as he had no other family. After 10 years, with built up anger, he left to follow his dream of being a pirate. He made it out to one of the few ports left and joined a crew. He was just a deck hand, and it was not an actual pirate ship, but it was a start. It was a new captain, with a young crew. This would be exciting, he thought. He had no idea the amount of work he would have to do, but he did not care at that point either. The Captain sailed his ship on its maiden voyage, into a heavy wind and a red sky. He was not seasoned enough to know that a large storm was brewing in the area he was sailing, nor did he bother to ask.The storm was the biggest Surepaw had ever seen. The waves bashed the ship to pieces, Surepaw was thrown overboard, he held on to a large piece of the ship that had been torn off. He weathered the storm, eventually being picked up and brought to the Isle of Refugee (Queen's Colony). There he continued his dream of being a pirate, and someday, just someday, maybe finding his Dad
