What could possibly beat last year’s Fan Faire in Las Vegas, NV? You tell us! The time has come to pick a new location and as always, we want your opinion. Go here to vote on potential cities, dates and costs for Fan Faire 2008. You have 14 days to give us your two cents and help determine where the next great event will be held – so vote now !

What is a Fan Faire? The SOE Fan Faire is a Sony Online Entertainment-sponsored event designed to allow players the chance not only to meet one another, but also many of the more prominent SOE personalities. It's a great opportunity to meet the real people behind the online avatars and the game itself. Though attendees will have plenty of opportunity to mingle freely with one another and make new friends, they'll also have the chance to participate in a number of panel discussions and game-themed live events.

When and where are the Fan Faire events held?Fan Faire events are held in various regions throughout the U.S. and occur annually. We try to choose locations that will accommodate as many players as possible.

I would vote for my local area, lol, but for good reason.

Phoenix is about to have Superbowl XLII (well, in neighboring Glendale) and has many brand new facilities that have been added. Maybe not Phoenix itself as the city streets are congested with light-rail construction. But perhaps any of the close by areas. Scottsdale and Tempe (home of ASU) are part of the metro. Lol, if Camelback Mountain can take the red property next to Free Parking on Monopoly Here and Now, I would say it is doing well.

Also, a good set of our geekdom is here, the second silicon valley. Including Intel, Motorolla, Microsoft, OnSemi, MicroSemi, Flipchip, et al.

Besides, need to make more headway here as this is a decidedly WoW town (should send copies of EQ2 RoK to the radio jocks).

If not I would throw my hat in with Vegas. I could not make it last year due to not having the vacation time to spare. However I would say the nicest time in Vegas is late October, quite a bit cooler without being too cold.

Doesn't SOE have offices up here in Seattle? I'd love to have it up here, but failing that, Vegas is probably the most accessible for the most people, with cheaper flight deals than pretty much anywhere. That was one thing I liked with UO (before my friends showed me the light ) was that there were smaller but more frequent, geographically scattered gatherings, usually just a couple community reps and maybe a dev if we were really lucky. Oh yeah, and swag - can't forget the swag

The border agent called 3 different people to verify my story and still turned me away as well as 15 other people in line with me. One guy was going to attend his mother's funeral in Edmonton. And we hosted Star Wars Convention 3 when it happened. It's mainly just they seem reluctant to do any Fan Faires on anything but the coasts recently. I went to Chicago and it was great. personally i think listing the days and splitting Orlando screwed things upit should be just the 2 locations as most people will make thier schedules around the time of it anyways so it should just be orlando and vegas as choices and i bet you will see a much different pollbtw it sucks always having them in the western US

However, I doubt there are enough of them to budget a full blown Fan Faire. A couple of the other companies have "Mini" version of their meet ups and town halls in Europe. It might be worth consideration in the future. I'm sure the SOE team wouldn't mind a European Vacation some day.

Man I got it, obviously SOE can't do a Fan Faire everywhere folks are able to travel but I bet this has come up before but I will throw out there. Ok so it won't be the same but maybe folks can get together regionally at the same time as Fan Faire and have a home party or meet a local pub or eatery and upload pictures from it. Well that is all I have from back here in Econo class.

How about next year you don't skew the results for Orlando by posting two dates for it? There were also a lot of locations within easy walking distance for tourists that were family friendly and didn't involve alchohol or exorbitant amounts of money as most of the Vegas shows did if you could take the time to get to them, considering how far apart the hotels are.
