I played this the first year it came out and quit after beta testing the first expansion. I came back cause I have nothing else to do for a while. It seems like so much has changed i feel lost. So I am going to start fresh and need a server to call home. I tried Nagafen but I felt like I was playing WoW again, with how the people would react to question. Also does anyone do anything that is not in the expansion? Or is it like EQ1 where old zones are empty and everyone is in the new areas only? What class is overplayed? Underplayed? I really want to get up in level and find a good guild and raid like a mad man, and have a fear of making a character that is not wanted(or needed) in raids. I enjoy PvP but it seems like a double edged sword as far as type of players you will run into. I also enjoy RP but fear that the RP/PvP does not have enough people playing or is horribly out of balance. I went and looked the guilds there and I swear I went through several pages of Freeport only ones and I want to be a good Kerra. I really just do not want to get into a character only to find out I am all alone on a server most of the time or cannot find a group. Sorry If I seem to be ranting just had this happen in a lot of MMOs I join late.

If you are feeling overwhelmed I suggest you stay away from the PvP servers until you get a hang of the game's changes. On Nagafen, to survive means being the best so it would be better to get an idea of what to do first.

As for the servers, pick any of the servers that are near the bottom of the list during what you deem your prime playing time and you should have no trouble. The old world is indeed still being used.

Overplayed classes: Fury, necromancer, in my opinion anything else is fair game.

Underplayed: Templar, coercer, the bards...defilers maybe.

Hard to get into a raid: Any of the tanks.

Can get into raiding: rogues, predators, sorcerors, summoners, druids

Desired for raiding: bards, enchanters, clerics and shamans.

Take this with a grain of salt (I am no expert) and have fun!

Roll on AB. Has the highest population and overall decent playerbase. There can be idiots, but at least you can /ignore and know there are more folks out there to group. I see folks grouping at ALL levels there on AB

You want to be a good based race, so perhaps a Swashbuckler? You get some nice things like stealth, evac and can solo, group or raid with that class. If not, then conjuror or Illusionist are both fun, have pets and are wanted in most situations..

Don't play a druid on AB though.. We have soooo many freaking druids. You see them LFG all the time and the level chat has a bash fest on those guys all the time

Much more casual PvP environment. There is plenty of PvP available but its not forced down your throat either. And, over all the attitudes and maturity seems to be more bearable on Venekor. Don't get me wrong. There are some great people on Naggy.. but they are far out numbered by those who play MMO's like a first person shooter.Even if you don't call Venekor your home. You can always play on it until you get reaquainted with the game and feel comfortable jumping back in to the PvP action again.

Given the previous post, I think this list varies by server. In my experience on Unrest, it's closer to this:

Overplayed classes: Fury, necromancer, brawlers, templars, wizards, shadowknight

Underplayed classes: chanters, bards, shaman, wardens

Desired for raiding: bards, enchanters, inquisitors, brigands, wardens and shaman

The Bazaar Server is a friendly server. It is not PVP however. If you chose to play alone there are lots of people to help and group with. Also lots of friendly guilds that would love to have you and help you get your feet on the ground again!
