I am trying to build my wizard around items that proc extra damage. This might be foolish, and not an effective way to increase DPS, but i wanted to try.

I currently only have 2 items, Grizzfazzle's walking stick from the quest in Bonemire, and the Boneclasp girdle. Does anyone know of any other item's out there for a wizard with damage proc's on them? Thanks in advance.

Mystical orb of the invoker comes to mind.

Although, I've become more of a believer in the value of base spell damage increases at the expense of crits and regular damage procs lately. I don't know how far your pockets go but as far as items go eventually you'll want to grab up:

72 Pristine Majestic Swiftcloth Cloak: 2% base damage increase to hostile spells (2p on my server)

70 (Crafted) Vine Wrapped Boots: (proc) 10% chance to increase base damage of hostile spells by 10% for 7sec

70 Wand of Crystalized Plasma: (proc) 8% base damage for 12 sec 1.8/min (unrest or 15p)

I don't know about other servers, but the boots there were going for 40p on my server which basically placed all my Adept III's to M1 status whenever its up which happens to be quite a bit during long ROK heroic instance fights. If they're even 50p its way cheaper initially than popping 100p per wizzy master I unless scrooge mcduck is your uncle.

That notwithstanding I'm finding that being 77 (without having fission or ice spike in my arsenal yet) those 3 items and a patient use of frigid gift & freehand (5pts) & catalyst with 4% base damage from brainstorm and ~20% crits, tanks without threat position combat techniques can't do much for me at a full gallop even without a single master I.

I don't know if I'd ever go back to damage proc now that I've tasted catalyst-ice nova/fusion with 24% base damage increase. Yeah, if IN only comes out once a fight for you and you've got the time nothing is quite as sweet as seeing both the WOCP & VWB procs up at the same time and frigid gift being out for 22s is just icing on the cake. Just piddle with the DOT's for the first part of the fight and they'll both be up. Can't wait till I actually have Ice Spike and Fission instead.

Back in September 07' pre-ROK the Vine Wrapped boots were going ~96pp on my server but after ROK they were dropping down to ~40pp now that there are PUR's going for EH.

I understand 40pp is still out of alot of Wizard's price ranges but for as many 100pp+ T8 masters I see disappear from the broker every other day I figured I'd point out that this item is arguebly more useful than any specific T8 master I at half the price. There is obviously a lot of individuals with even more discretionary money than I since I could only afford 1 item vs 15 T8 masters already.

Matter of fact, the 10% boost along with the 8% WOCP and the 2% cloak place me at 20% base damage boost without the WIS line (4%) at all. Seeing how I personally have not seen issues with power in ROK instances and also admittedly the unsoloable heroic instance mobs in ROK make the power reducer at the end and the 4% arguably optional for my gear arrangement.

My biggest personal problem with running 24% (with WIS) or 20% (non-WIS) base damage increase and massaging up the procs before catalyst-FG-IN is 3/4 through a heroic ROK instance mobs' HP's I just rip the mob from the tank at the very least irritating the player who's running it. It's these boots' fault!

                                                                   W A R N I N G

If you get these boots, the WOCP, and the cloak (or better stuff) you'll probably experience problems getting way ahead of your tank even if you're just running Adept III's.

I'm currently experimenting with increasing my aggro-gap (base % increase is uber w/ the 100% crit control of catalyst what can I say..) by running:

Str 4/4/6/8/2, Agi 4/4/7/8/2, Int 4/4/4/8 + Hate Pet rather than the crit pet for a slight loss to random crits and a 4% base in favor of a 20% increased gap in the hate gain that is not inconveniently debuffed from the Tank in ROK instances like the hate transfer spell seems to do all the time.

At the moment, 20% non-debuffable hate gap seems far more attractive than 4% BD, power reduction, and a mild damage adder (freehand) for life in ROK-instances. Freehand and catalyst is admittedly nicer than just catalyst, but catalyst is better if there is only a choice of one or the other and you don't need the +BS% and don't know what OOP is.

I am serious though, if you drop the ~50pp on the boots be prepared to re-think your AA or who can you can get that can handle your hate if you whip out the vengence.
