I have really been getting into my wizzy lately... just hit 65, got fusion ad3 made, having all kinds of fun, 83 AA etc etc. but there is one thing I would like to suggest to make it even more fun, and hopefully still be balanced. from what i've read on the forums and heard from other mages, the gear from rok allows for a pretty decent crit chance all by itself, thus making the str line a little less useful tho still fun to have. now what i think would be cool to keep the str line desireable is to revamp catalyst a little. instead of using health to guarantee a crit that can be gotten randomly at any time for no health cost, why not use that health to make the crit even stronger? this could go a couple ways. we sacrifice 20% health... why not let the crit hit for 20% more damage? so instead of the base crit of 30% it goes to 50%. or, make it a chargeable buff. each time you cast it, it takes 20% health, but increases the crit %. so like have the first charge add an additional 10% to crit damage, charge 2 add 17%, and 3rd charge add 25%.it just happens a lot that i see the bare minimum crit land. i got this massive nuke for 5590 damage and it lands a crit for 5591... it's disappointing. so i figure maybe other wizards feel the same way about it. what do you guys think of my idea?

Unless we have an excellent relationship with tanks with threat position reducers they can't handle the current spell-gear-AA uberness that is wizzy dps atm. Giving us and even bigger single bomb would cry nerf like the 8% BS did except that assassins, necros, etc. would want something just as game smashing. Don't forget epic weapons or going to make us even uberer we assume.

For instance, I'm having a hard time at 77 holding the juice with 20% random crits for the DOT's and the fire spells (catalyst is always saved for Fusion/IN). Catalyst being a crit that although could have occured naturally, is great for timing your 100% for sure crit around procs that you may have massaged up.

I work some proccing items up using my DOT's and piddly spells on medium fights that will only see one IN/Fusion to get that base damage increase to 24% which then I blast out the "sure thing" IN/Fusion. If catalyst made it any bigger it would be like a free half manaburn at IN casting speed.

Simply put, more juice really isn't needed on catalyst. Catalyst is valuable because you can choose and deliberately plan your hits to your liking rather than relying on the RNG. The heroics in ROK are prefect in that the fghts are long enough to get procs up with your piddly spells (and let the tank get aggro) but short enough to be worth waiting on the IN/Fusion as they won't be able to be cast 2 times even if you pulled with one in most cases.
