I am a 31 Bruiser and I have tried sing Intimidate many times but I have never seen it work. It seems if you use it on a mob you will auto hit that mob right after and break it. There have been many times I would have liked to mez an add. So my question is how do you use Intimidate correctly?
First of all, make sure your autoattack button is on a hotbar or you've hotkeyed it so you can switch it on and off easily and quickly. Second, make sure that you click autoattack off immediately before you hit mez. Thirdly, make sure you don't have any DoTs going (like Blaze Kick or its equivalent). If the mob takes any damage from you (or anything else) the mez will be broken. If you want to successfully mez or fear an add, try hotkeying 'next target' and 'previous target' in the controls section of the options. (I use the E and Q keys). When you're fighting and you get an add, press E to target the add, hit autoattack to stop autoattacking, press mez or fear, then press Q and a combat art to go back to bashing your initial mob. With a little practice you should be able to do this whole sequence in a couple of seconds.

Another option is not to turn auto-attack off at all, but switch to the add target, start casting mez, then switch back to the original monster. Since you started casting the spell with the add targeted, when it finishes casting, it will have been cast on the add, and since you are back on your original target, you'll be auto-attacking it, rather than the add. It takes some practice, but is the optimal way of mezzing/fearing without losing dps as a bruiser I have found.
That's brilliant. I never even thought of that. (Having said that, getting into the habit of being able to quickly click autoattack on/off is no bad thing.)
