I was told that since all SK heals are based off damage, that this AA does absolutely nothing at all and is completely pointless to get.

Does anyone know if this is the case for sure? If so i'll take my AA's elsewhere.. =p

also is there any point in taking the +int or legionnaires smite past 4 points? right now im 4-4-8

thanks in advance for the info...

the only real reason anyone oes down the crit line is for the near 70% spell crit chance.when a spell crits, the whole spell crits, meaning if it has a heal effect, the heal is also a crit, so dumping points into the heal crit AA is redundant. this applies to your blessing spell too. and as for the smite AA i suggest maybe putting more points into it only if you have any left after getting others you want.

I've been told it's useless too. However, I would suggest maxing out the smite, it's a nice little extra nuke. Maxing out INT also increases your spell damage and power pool, (though STR also increases your power, apparently) so I did that. I maxed out that line up up to the healing crit then switched to the STR line and have that entire tree almost maxed now, though I held off on increasing the STR past 4, and now I'm working on getting down to Reaver in the SK tree. I'm at 61 and have no complaints about my decisions, I consistently can solo mobs 5 levels higher than me without any trouble, and with my DE racials and power regen totems, I barely have any downtime whatsoever when soloing. It's basically running from one mob to the next, ha.

We do not benefit from the heal crit % effect. However, I got points into it just for the fact it also increases all magical damage resistance. I'm only at 2/8 which does a minor 52 increase in all resistances. Not sure how much it is when it is maxed out. Every little bit counts in my book.Out of my personal preference, I choose to go with an anti-magic tank role. Being practically a mage in armor, I see it fit for me to be a mage hunter of sorts. So for me, getting that increases my base resistances to all forms of magic. Mobs on me normally get tons of resists and if they land, they do very minimal damage to me. I went STA 8-4-4-8-1 and INT 8-8-8-2 (planning on progressing) and not sure considering either leftover points for STR or WIS.I agree with rosscoliosis on maxing out Legionnaire's Smite is a very good idea. Ever since we no longer require symbols to use it, that's just like having an extra 1k nuke we can use that also benefits from the Reaver skill (if you have it)

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think i'll probably work on getting 8-8-8-0-0 on INT, and 4-4-8-0 on STR for now and see what looks good after that. Thanks again for the help!

Putting more than 4 pts in any of the first tier crusader AA's is a waste. You can get raw ability pts from equipment, but you can't replace the utility of the AA skills that actually DO something for you.

Well, an SK's life taps aren't really like normal life taps you see in other games (where the damage done is the amount healed)... so it is easy to see how someone could get confused (ie, me lol). I was under the impression that the heal portion of the life taps crit by itself (which isn't true), it is actually based on spell crit instead. The more your life tap damage portion crits, the more your heal portion crits (if your spell crits, your heal crits... and never vice versa). This is true for all the tap type spells an SK has (even blessings and unholy weapon procs). What the extra heal crit % does do for an SK, is increase the amount heal crit on weapon and armor procs. And, I haven't tested this yet... but it would make sense, any reactive heal buffs should also be affected by this I imagine. Whether or not that is enough of a reason to put points into it, that depends on what procs you have and how often they do proc.
