downloaded the trial and then went to buy the game and the stupid retailer gave me the echoes of faydwer one saying it was the latest expansion thing and all.. so i dont have the rise of kunark version - i know this cant be fixed now cause ive already opened it and played for a bit and whatnot.. but what is confusing is the adventure packs - it says on the site that i do not have them on my account, yet i have never run into something saying i require it?? i tried to go to kunark and it says i dont have that expansion.. how can i test if i have the adventure packs? cause i think i do O_o

Echoes of Faydwer is the expansion prior to Rise of Kunark. The adventure packs are included free along with all the previous content in RoK, not Echoes of Faydwer. Prior to RoK, they were considered optional content with a small fee of $9.95 to add them to your account. You need to have RoK in order to access the Kunark content and to have access to the adventure packs. If the retailer had told me what he told you, I would have gone back and chewed on him a bit.As a new player, RoK has a great starting area for new characters for levels 1-20, but the rest of the continent is level 70 plus, so once you got to level 20 then you would find yourself going back into the "old" world until you attained level 70. The starting area in RoK has some of the best equipment as rewards for completing quests. As it stands now, you will still be able to find a lot of content to keep you busy with the EoF box. I am sorry that the retailer was not informed...(edited - I hate spelling errors

The adventure packs (3 total) are addons that are ancillary to the main game. You do not need them to play, they are additional content that was provided for an additional one-time fee prior to release of RoK. The three adventure packs are The Splitpaw Saga, The Fallen Dynasty, and The Bloodlines Chronicles. Each AP provides a series of quests and overarching storyline leading to some nice rewards and lots of xp, but are completely optional so far as gameplay is concerned.

The Splitpaw Saga takes place in special zones within Thundering Steppes. The Fallen Dynasty takes place on the Island of Mara, accessed via bells on both the Thundering Steppes and Nektulos dock. The Bloodlines Chronicles mostly take place within the locked cavern behind the Falls in Nektulos Forest. None of these special zones are accessible without the respective adventure pack.

You can readily see what is activated on your account by clicking the My Account link at the top of this page, then log in, click on Subscription Information, select Details button next to EQ2. It will give you a complete list of active modules and /claim items on your account.

I'd like to add to what Skywarrior said....

The adventure packs are for certain levels...

Splitpaw is level 20+.

Bloodline is level 30+, and contains a lot... if not all ^^ & ^^^ encounters.

Fallen Dynasty is level 50 or 55+.

That retailer totally ripped you off! If you had gotten the newest RoK retail box you would've have gotten all the adventure packs included with EoF, KoS, DoF and RoK and for probably the same amount you paid for what you got. The retail box version of EoF did not include the adventure packs as RoK does so you'll have to go and purchase them seperately or just buy the RoK retail version and get all three with that.

well me and my friend are already level 20 so its not the kunark part that really got to me.. was just wondering cause he tried to share a quest to me and it said "requires the splitpaw saga adventure pack for this quest".. yet i already HAD that quest lol.. also we have the same exact copy of the game as we bought them together at the store .. so im just confused as to if i actually somehow do have the adventure packs - in any case, do they add enough to the game that i should get them?? if i end up playing long term i probably would anyway, but if i dont not sure if i should spend yet.

If all you really want to know is whether you have the adventure packs or not you can check through the website by signing into your account.

The other way to check is in game and is simple. Just type /claim and if you see a ring of T'haen you have bloodlines, if you have the blue shard thing you have splitpaw, and if you have a bonzai tree available you have fallen dynasty.

Personally I'd be very upset that I was sold the wrong version and I would bring my receipt, the box, and some kind of proof of RoK's release daten and try to get my money back. Or perhaps I'd try calling SoE themselves, of course this mistake was not theirs to make so I doubt they would be able to help you.

Again, if you check your subscription details as I described above, you will be able to see if the Adventure Packs are turned on for you as they will be listed in the feature set. Also, you did not say what type of subscription you have. If you subscribed to the Station Access then the Adventure Packs are also included in that package.

All that said, it is possible that SOE has simply turned on the Adventure Packs for everyone, although I have not seen any evidence of that nor any posts about it. As to whether or not they are worth getting, I would say yes but your mileage may vary. Splitpaw Sage is interesting and gives you a ready source of level appropriate grinding content (if you like that) from level 20 into your 50s. It also gives you an alternate "Call" ability for travel options. Bloodlines Chronicles is a very intense grouping experience for the 30s and 40s that has some decent rewards, good xp and access to special spells and abilities, including Vampire Master Strike and a class spell. Fallen Dynasty is interesting for in your 50s and gives a bit of a different cultural flavor (more oriental) with some nice house item rewards and a couple of interesting raid zones. If you want to raid later in your character life, Bloodlines at least will be important if for no other reason than the Master Strike (lots of vampires in the 60s/70s.

Since purchasing the three packs will run you close to $30 and you will eventually want to get RoK if you continue in the game, I'm not sure I would recommend buying them if money is an issue at all. You will be better off simply biting the bullet and buying RoK once you get the point where you feel you would like to play in any of the adventure packs.

I don't know that doing so will help you but you might consider writing a (politely worded) email to SOE customer service and explain the circumstances of the purchase. Offer to provide the dated sales receipt and tell them the store told you it was the latest version. The worst that can happen is they just tell you they can't help you (and they really have no obligation to do so). On the other hand, they might actually fix you up.

You may have to thrash around a smidgen to find the right area, but make sure all your game components are listed. Then when you are in game, type in /CLAIM and garb the mysterious blue shard -- that's what you need for Splitpaw. And the Ring of T'haen for Bloodlines.
