Strength, CA damage, Autoattack & the Melee Mystic

<p>I have a 78 Melee mystic on a PVP server (Agi with crits maxed but no Rage yet, Wis to Ritual of Magic, Int maxed, Combat, Ancestry and Immunize). My unbuffed str is about 200- that is, mid 500s buffed. I use Vrak Claw Club and hit other players in the 300s mostly, and mobs in the 800s. I was fighting a green (73) inquis the other day who was hitting me almost doubly as hard with what appeared to be BSM, so now I have strength/DPS envy <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" width="15" height="15" /></p><p>My gear choices are mostly inteded to make sure of a few things; firstly, that Scourge lands, and hits hard; secondly, that any meleer that attacks me will hurt themselves too; and thirdly that power won't be a concern in a healer fight. I like my spec, and I think my gear works. However I have bugger-all strength.</p><p>I switch around my gear a bit, but I use a few pieces of Melodic chain for when I want the +CA damage on solo non heroic mobs. My jewelery is mostly healer type, though I have a M/C str ring. I see mystics around with 500-plus unbuffed on eq2players in average gear, most of them look geared like self-warding scouts. Do any of said scout-shamen have any numbers to feedback with regards to how hard autoattack hits, how hard CAs hit, and the benefits of items like +10dps adorns, Marr/Rallos cloaks and the Tunare earring on solo dps? And do you notice a significant decrease in lifespan with less power?</p><p>Edit to add: at what point do STR returns diminish?</p><p>PVP mystic feedback would be appreciated.</p><p>--</p><p>Rahael/Chesty LaRue, Nagafen</p>

<p>I think I killed you the other day in Kylong, my first Mystic vs Mystic ever...</p><p>Anyways STR starts to severly diminish in the upper 800's.... My spec I have 930+ STR buffed without shortterms. (To compare my AE hits for 1210-1459). My WIS is very low but I have enough power procing items that healer/healer fights are easy. I'm actually a bit shocked so many Mystics have scourge. I find that scouts and fighters are tougher than casters and scourge does little to a melee class. My spec is STR 4-4-7-8-2 AGI 4-8-8-2-2 STA 4-8-8. Im currently using the "Star of Morning's Glory" for my 1h and Blackflood Maul as my 2h. I use the 1h vs melee classes since the buckler puts my avoidance near 45%. Since you live in the city you should be saving those tokes for the 2h (Typhoon is the name I think) Spear. </p><p> What are your Haste/DPS fully proced and what are the items you are using to obtain the Haste/DPS?</p>

<p>Well...</p><p>bearing in mind i'm still 79 and haven't much instance gear, and I have three full bags of assorted gear...</p><p>my +dps comes from a Tynnonium band of strength, a +10 dps neck, and a +2dps cloak. I also have a +2 DA ear, and can equip full Melodic chain for +CA damage. If I had some spare tynnonium i'd fill up on m/c jewellery just for the hell of it to see what happens. From what i've seen, +dps and +CA damage seem to help much more than strength alone- according to /weaponstats, bolster does very little. I use Deklium Cudgel and Vraksakin as my weapons.</p><p>And... well, scourge on PVP is just a must have, our server is full of people with ridiculous amounts of illusion forms and useless buffs stacked on each other <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>+DPS is very helpful. But in my sad world I have just gone full melee. Maxing my STR and picking up every +DPS and +Haste I can get. The STA line helps with DA but only go 4-4-8 sine the rest of the line is garbage.</p><p>Being that I'm in Haven now I even picked up the Rallos cloak for added fun.</p>

<p>I'm not on a pvp server but I can tell you to try and get to 730 unbuffed str.  Most people will agree that somewhere between 730 and 800 the diminishing returns kicks in pretty hard and you might as well stop there. </p>
