Newb SK? 2h or 1h+Shield in PvP?

So for PvP purposes are we better with a two-handed weapon or a slow one hand and a shield?  From what I can tell the only thing affected by weapon choice are stat bonuses and auto attack damage, correct?

I'm not a pvp SK so my answer might be totally incorrect but I would think that in a pvp situation sword and board would be the optimal way to go for defensive purposes. most 2 handers compared to an equal quality 1 hander arent that great anyway so the dps difference is mostly negligible(unless there are some sweet pvp only 2 handers that i dont know about hehe). I suppose though that it would also depend on who/what you are fighting. you vs a squishy caster, 2 handed I'ld imagine woudl be perfectly fine. you vs a melee scout though I would definately want some block %
