Ok, before anything is known about the epic, lets play a game. We believe there is going to be different levels of the weapons. How many, I don't believe we really know. So lets say two. A legendary, and a fabled. Lets also pretend it will indeed be a bow.The game is, will the epic be better than RSB.This is taking into account current arrow mechanics. We can even include the level. Will it summon lvl 80 ammo? For instanceLegendary epic bow lvl 78 will not be better than RSB, will not summon ammoFabled epic bow lvl 80 will not be better than RSB, will not summon ammoJust to see if we are close or way off !

How about:Legendary Bow - lvl 76, 150-450 dmg, 7 sec, +STR, +STA, +INT stats, +poison proc, +in combat power regen, no arrow summonFabled Bow - lvl 80 - 150-950 dmg, 9 sec, +STR, +STA stats, +some cool new fluff proc i.e. nice, but not DPS, +deaggro proc, no arrow summonIn other words, worse than RSB Based on SoE track record, and my own cynicism, I have absolutely zero confidence that our Epic will be useful for us in any way shape or form.

STR AND INT ?it will either be STR and AGI, or AGI and INT, but someone has a memo posted on their cube wall specifically saying scouts cannot have STR and INT on the same piece of gear without prior written permission from someone who is never in his cube, or always traveling.

I just hope there will be solid arrow/bow mechanics in place before the Epic comes out (provided they give us a bow).

I wonder if the epic isn't either a bow or weapon. Perhaps an Epic Quiver, thats boosts ranged dmg, ranged distance and summons level equivalent arrows or maybe thats just wishful thinking.....

equivalent to what level: bow level, adventure level, or set item level (such as a level 80 quiver giving you level 80 arrows)?

I guess that would be one way to quick fix arrow mechanics, but it would have to level with you to be worth anything past ROK. How sad would that be if they added an epic item for us like that?

Honestly, I would consider anything other than a bow as a game breaker for me. Either give us something we can use or change the class enough to make other items (melee weapons) worth using.

It has been confirmed that there will be two version, a legendary and a fabled. It has also been confirmed that we are indeed getting a bow.I think what we will see is a Legendary bow that falls somewhere around 10-15th best according to my bow ranking list. It will have 40 STR, 30 AGI, 25 INT, and a poison-based proc (something that takes 12 lines to describe).I think the Fabled bow will be about 5th best bow in the game according to my bow ranking list (which ranks by DPS), but will have stats that make it undeniably cooler than RSB. Maybe 60 STR, 45 AGI, 40 INT, and an epic proc of some sort... and an "Activate to do something" effect. It has also been hinted that all the epic weapons will have some sort of motion or animation to them (see Jinkdrack and Gnorbin's posts last week). For instance, the claws on the monk weapon will spread out when the monk attacks (making it look more deadly). If this is true... what sort of motion would a bow have?

Weapon A:+10 DPSProc: Call of lighteningWeapon B:+10 Haste (stacks iwth everything)Proc: Ranger's Mark25% double attack for 10 secs.

I never really noticed this before, but on the EQ2 web site cover page, there is a picture of what i think is a Ranger holding a bow. Has anyone seen that graphic before, ie. Dragonhawk, Trueshot Recurve etc....?Maybe a preview of the epic??http://everquest2.station.sony.com/Cheers!

Honestly i would be happy with a epic quiver...sure it wouldn't be flashy but an endless quiver with some neat stats would make me a happy ranger. Anyone who thinks the epic weapons will outlast this tier is fooling themselves. But i wouldn't be surprised if they later put out an epic 2.0

On the PvP servers if you get enough tokens you can get a PvP bow call "The Marksman" in game that bow looks exactly like the bow in the picture from your link.

I am with ranja in hoping it would be two one handed swords like the EQ1 ranger epics. Or even better would be a convertable epic like the hunter epic in WoW. For those of you who didn't play WoW, it was a bow with nice stats, or a staff with nice stats, that could be changed into one or the other by right clicking it and choosing to do so. Similar to the way the warrior epic in EQ1 could be converted into two one handed swords or one two handed sword. That would let rangers use it as a bow until they got better, then use it for stats as their "Melee" weapon. It will probably be a bow with great stat bonuses and above average, but not great dps.

I was hoping for something that wouldn't be as quickly upgraded as a bow. Ideal for me would be a quiver that summoned lvl 80 ammo and had a nice damage proc on it.

What level will the bow be, and how will that work with the arrows we have to use?

My prediction is this:

level 80

Sta 50 - Agi 40 - Wis 25

6.0 delay

Damage 550-600

Procs: Developer's Silence - summons a dev that stands there looking perplexed (kind of like our class fun pets). Luckily it doesn't proc on ranged attacks.
