So I just started EQ yesterday, made a Bruiser and went to Nagafen for a PvP server.

I started in Timorous and as soon as I took the first Griffin out of the beginner area I've been ganked nonstop.

I know, "It's a PvP Server you're going to get ganked!" I went in expecting this.

But there's nothing I can do about it. Is there a safe place to run to? Some way to get away? I mean I'm trying to get quests done and level up but I'm constantly swarmed by Q's. I rez and they're waiting for me. The pvp immunity wears off before the rez sickness does.

I don't mind getting ganked, but there doesn't seem to be anyway for me to escape and try to continue leveling.

Suggestions?

Nothing really you can do to avoid getting ganked, you can try rolling with some core friends all the itme, or go to a lower population pvp server.

Guess I'm screwed =)

Just started yesterday, nobody to run around with.

I thought, hey I'll just log out for awhile, they'll go away. Nope. Tried again, came back later, old group was gone, new group had shown up.

Maybe PvP Server wrong way to go when first starting out.

Here's where some of your problems lie:

You're new to the game. Meaning you're not going to have the in-game experience with the general gameplay, let alone being decent at your class, but these come with a little time & experience.

You're in TD, the hotspot for most people under level 20. Higher concentration, gonna suck for a newbie. The quests and gear rewards there are the best ingame for that level range, plus lots of lowbies there to get ganked.

You don't have any in-game connections, meaning you're going to be running solo until you do. That's kind of going to fall upon you to remedy that, unless somebody is willing to take you under their wing; check the adopt-a-newbie thread in the PvP forum to see if there's anyone available to give you some pointers or assistance.

Your gear and Spells/Combat Arts are going to be basement level compared to the guys over there stalking you. There's ways around that, but it'll take a little time.

And yeah, it sucks. I've got an SK over there, level 12, and [Removed for Content] if I'm not getting griefed by some [Removed for Content]. But I'm keeping track of a couple of them, and I can't wait to group with them. /kick Smacktardnumber1 + Evac = payback's a [Removed for Content].

Send me a tell in game to Whoitis or downrightwrong. I stay in TD/Gorowyn and I will definitely help you out. I have a few friends we have a great place to grind up to 22, which is key for armor and weapons. Little to no pvp. After that you are on your own. If you want to group and grind up and have a few frnds to avoid the [Removed for Content] Qs send me a tell in game.

I had the same problem. I re-rolled to Vox server. It still has pvp, but minus the endless gankfest!

Well you are starting out on the best area to quest below level 20. Best advice I can give is try to find others that are doing the same quests as you and just hope for the best.

From my experience. EQ (or EQ2) + PvP is basically like chocolate cake with mustard. Its just not meant to be. Its something added to an engine that was designed from the ground up for PvE raiding. Essentially it doesn't turn into people your level fighting over control of a zone, its always level (max level goes here) hanging out ganking new characters going "Lolz!! UR Mom!!! U suks!!"If you are into PvP, play a PvP game. Play EQ2 for the PvE and the cooperative experience of grouping with friends and guildmates. Just my opinion of course.
