So this weekend, I did the Heritage Quest "War and Wardrobe" and had fun while doing it. I used the walkthrough at eq2i, which is my habit. But it got me thinking, there is a spot in the quest where you go into Nek castle and find a note on a box in the basement. The quest notes say basically to go to Nek castle and look for the next clue, that's it. Later in the quest you need to click on a loose stone on the Chessboard in Butcherblock. The clue for this step is similarly vague. I'm not expressing myself very well but I hope you get the idea. Basically this sort of thing is typical for quests in this game, "Look for the answer somewhere in the Enchanted Lands." Good luck!My question is, who posts those quest walkthroughs and how do they solve these quests? Do they go around clicking on every rock and blade of grass and killing every possible placeholder mob until they get a quest update? This is truly mystifying to me as this game seems so huge and detailed that I could never finish many of the longer quests without those walkthroughs, yet clearly someone is able to do them without help.Any quest trailblazers out there feel like sharing some of your secrets?

I know knowing EQ1 and 2 lore helps with some quests and if you played EQ1 those ppl may have a little edge on those who havent. Here is the link and if nothing less it is good reading and helps bring the game to life knowing why things are the way they are in the game

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...w.m?forum_id=91

And this one its a really good link gives some real indepth lore. I think all players should read the lore, well give a better understanding to all that is happening in the EQ world. I would start with EQ lore if you never played it.

http://myrist.nsaguild.com/

Well if its not appearant from the quest log, idealy you just stumble over it. Your in a location, you find something, you go ...whats that for. Later on your doing a quest and it says you need to find such and such in these general locations and you go hmm... you take your knowledge of where youve been and you attempt to deduce the correct answer.

A lot of it is done through shared information on forums like these. Some of its from people who were in Beta and they were either given the information or given better hints. But Im betting most of its from people who love to solve the puzzles and just keep at it until they do it.

The majority of quests can be solved through the hints given in the quest logs. Some though you will need to really really really work at if you attempt to solve without a walk through. The game doesnt make it easy, especially when you have to work through placeholders. If you never see the named up then you never know its the mob you need.

SOE knows that MMO's like EQ2 by their nature as on-line games often have places like eq2.wikia.com and allakhazam and even the official forums where people share quest progress. They make some quests, usually heritage and signature etc, pretty much require a co-ordinated effort amongst the gaming community. Some quests like the dragon language quest and sword of destiny would take individual players months and months and months just to scour every zone looking for stupid little tablets and idols hidden under tables or in holes etc.

So to answer your question in the topic, we work together I use "spoiler" sites all the time too for getting locations of things, I don't have time to spend 400 hours on one step of one quest searching every inch of every zone in the game. I think these quests are one of the biggest social elements in the game that encourage players talking to each other. How many times in level or guild chat have you seen people asking for help finding things or where they are supposed to go next for something, or posting on forums and visiting websites? I find it refreshing as these games become more and more solo-play orientated that we still need to work together to find things.

Also, think about how many times you've been in a new zone and come across clickable items that don't seem to do anything. I've always taken note of things like that, so when a quest asks for a "item" in a zone you can remember "hey I wonder if it was that thing that didn't do anything when I clicked it"

I wondered about a number of NPC that didn't give quests or some that wouldn't talk you at all in KP and Fens and many turned out to be part of the Fist Full of Metal quest line. You just have to note things like this and make sure you read the quest log.
