Edited 1/28/08

This will be an ongoing project until completion to objectively parse Berzerker DPS using different AA configurations.

The tests will be based off of these preset conditions:

1) RoK realease CA and AA configuration. 70 AA in to the Warrior tree. At this time only 19 AA in to the Berzerker tree (no Cyclone yet).

2) Berzerker will be LVL 71 for these tests, buffed and healed by a boxed Fury of the same lvl. All the Berzerker's CA up this point are of Master I or II quality.

3) All tests will be tested in Fens ( RoK expansion ) on the same mob of the same level, in single PvE encounters. If applicable at a later time, I will test pulling multiple mobs. Due to RoK being mostly a single pull environment, I rather for now focus on single encounters.

4) CA order and casting delays have been standardized using a programable Logitech keyboard. All tests will be using a standardized set of CA and any specific AA abilities that are granted from that AA line. The casting order of CA abilities have been uniformly macroed in to the keyboard with a delay between each CA set at .094 of a second, taking account any reuse and refresh timers. I will post the set of CA casting and order used for the tests at a later time.

5) Please be patient on results and updates, I have a family and job, and they come first.

6) These tests will be purely PvE and not reflect a PvP AA set up. If you want to contribute PvP data please send me a PM.

7) Depending on the test and AA build, the weapons or shields in question will be standard through out the tests. In other words, the same buckler, tower, kite shield, 1HS, DW weapons, 2HS, weaponry will be standardized through out the tests.

I am not raid gear equipped; I am RoK quest, mastercrafted, and treasure chest item equipped. Due to Raid gear being game changing for the end game, a raid Berserker would most likely get different results from their AA configuration depending on their armor sets and bonuses.

9) An AA, if testing only one weapon scheme (Buckler and 1HS) will be tested on 50 of the same type single encounter mobs, no more - no less. Of those 50, 25 will be in Defensive stance, and 25 will be in offensive stance.

10) If using different weapons and using the same AA build for the specific test, 50 more mobs will be tested, 25 in offensive stance, and 25 in defensive.

11) ACT will be the parser used for these test. http://home.maine.rr.com/eqaditu/ACT/

12) Some might say the tests might need more then 50 samples per test, but sorry I would go crazy in fens killing 5000 mobs.

13) I will post my stats and gear on a post following this for the tests taken.

14) If you have suggestions on other conditions or factors that can effect this test please leave a response.

TEST WILL START WITH:

STA 4 4 8 8 1 (26)

INT 4 6 8 4 1 (26)

STR 4 6 8 (1

Buckler Line - 1HS and Buckler

A) Defensive

DPS

Damage Taken

B) Offensive

DPS

Damage Taken

What is the best AA set up to test the Tower Shield - Wis line, which will get testing next.

Researched some parsers, and if anyone has any experience with either of the ones below please let me know how acurately it performed:

http://home.maine.rr.com/eqaditu/ACT/

http://home.inreach.com/kai/EQCompanion/

http://parsemania.chase.net.au/

http://www.eqpixie.com/

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=401137

ACT is the standard, the more you use it and understand how to get data from it the better of a player you will become. I would sugest getting very familiar with it. Just a heads up i have already parsed most common AA setups and the few cookie ones that get thrown around the most are generally the most effective*.*for PvE raiding/grouping assuming you want to be able to tank and are running with mastercrafted+

Thanks Skel, I went and downloaded and installed ACT.

You did bring in one factor which I didnt foresee "PvP AA setup", the parsing I will be doing will be purely for PvE. A PvP server would have diferent mechanics and therefore a diferent AA setup would be nesessary.

The second factor that would effect the test would be player base in terms of a raid equiped player versus casual player in mastercrafted or kunark gear. Raid equiped players might hit the stat cap on some of the stats and might choose to restructure their AAs to handle margining returns in certain AA categories.

My zerker just turned 69 last night, and I will start parsing as I hit 70 and I am able to invest the 20 AA points I have saved up fully in to the warrior tree for a total of 70. I will equip myself in either full mastercrafted as I hit 72, until then I will have pretty general trader bought equipment and kunark lvl quest reward gear equipped. My abilities are almost all Master I, and I believe just two are A3 though the 50s and 60s.

My plan is to let the parser run for hours as I go through killing sprees through heroic, regular mobs, and named through RoK. After 500 to 1000 mobs are parsed through a setup, I will change the AA setup and then go at it again.

There are many variables the parse wont cover, but at least it will identify whats best for my play style. I could now understand why there arent more parses on the site to identify what AA setup is best.

Generally to get a clear and accurate parse you want to be a static level vs static mobs and a set number for each. Basicly using the scientific method to obtain accurate data.

would the wall in Jungle by the monks work?

As long as the mobs you are fighting the same mobs for all the tests and a set number for each test you should be fine.

dont think you would torture yourself with 500-1k mobs of the same level =P

At least for the tests I will be conducting, I will be locked in at lvl 70, I have decided to perform the test in Fens (RoK zone), therefore all the mobs will be regular, non heroic, single pulls. I plan to for every AA setup to do 100 mobs, all the same lvl of 71, near the zone in to KP.

Now just got to get to 70, most likely by sat evening.

I have the card that will allow me to change AAs 5 times, so I can go through 5 changes, and curently i am set up through the STA line, with Buckler all the way.

What does the Zerk community suggest I choose for most common AA configurations that zerkers would most benefit from in the tests. I will be using a tower shield in the Wis line, and I believe the in the Int line I should use DW, and thus any suggestions? iam still new to EQ2, and learning as I go, please post anything that you all would want me to try out.

Your right about the 2HS, what AA would be optimal for the 2HS or 2HB test, I will only do the buckler line on the Sta AA build, and the tower shield on the Wis AA build.

By intuition I would think the AA setup would be the similar to that of DW. Therefore where DW will be tested for optimal DPS I will do the same test with a 2HS.

I would experiment with a STR-INT-WIS setup for the 2handers, since you want to parse max DPS that is a good setup.STR until you max Crits, Int at least into acceleration strike, but i would go further and max the parry skill. The rest in Wis.If you can, experiment either with the final skill in Wis (no penalties using stances) or the final skill in STR, but i would put priority in the end WIS skill since the final STR one is very situational and if you're assuming the a DPS role in a raid, you wont drop much from 50% health (hence not taking advantage of the STR final skill).BTW you have the AA points to experiment in all skills?

i did a little testing with the wisdom line the other night, loss of haste was noticable but still only marginal, spec iirc was:

448str/4488sta/44872wis/41int

this is an offensive stance/gear parse from MMIS

a little lower on the DPS than i usually do but picked up about 4% additional base avoidance in offensive stance and minimal loss to attack skill in defensive. the swap from int to wis drops your parry about 4% or so, the mitigation benefit seems trivial but i did it as requested and i will agree it has some benefits but for the most part it seems like a push with the cookie cutter build i have been running since RoK release at 448str/64882sta/44882int. slightly less dps in offensive, slightly more in defensive but defensive stats take a slight hit which to me makes it less desirable of a spec. here is my defensive parse from Thuuga:

usually i average right around 120 haste with the wis spec where with the int line it was generally 150+, dps mod static is about 100 in raid. i personally prefer str/sta/int as it seems to do its job and well but str/sta/wis/int does do the job as well, with marginal gains/losses.
