View Full Version : When to use Channel/ing?

I must confess I've been a bit reluctant to use Channel because the cost in lost mana seems kinda harsh. I'm currently using adept 1 of the level 58 Channel. I have an adept 3 for Channeling in my bags, just waiting for level 76.

My questions:

- When's the right time to use Channeling? Who does it [Removed for Content] off?

- Will the cost/benefit tradeoff be a lot less painful with ad3 Channeling?

thanks,Firebuck

I wouldn't bother using Ad3 Channel much. Master I Channel and Ad3 Channeling are both good to use near the end of a fight if someone has mana that they will not use. IE, if you have a healer with 50% mana and your dps is out and the mob will die soon, hit it. Ad3/M1 Channeling will pretty much make everyone happy if you use it at the right time (Look for 1-3 people with exceptionally high mana and the rest without for the best results).

Channel divides up power amongst the group, and lower versions like your adept1 do it at a substantial loss.Channelling magically grabs power out of nowhere when dividing up. The difference is night & day, definetely put your adept3 in a prominent spot on your hotbars. The only time I think people might get annoyed is if you use channelling purely for when you run out of power. For best results get a dirge to cast Gravitas on you prior to use, and its one good use for taking the heal crit AA.
Thanks guys -- very helpful!

I generally use channel as a way to replenish the power of my groupmates. I'll keep my power as high as possible through effense xfer, power taps, etc, and if the healers and/or MT get wicked low on power, I'll use channel to replenish some of theirs. I won't use it if it's a situation where manaflow or manacloak can fill the need though.

hm..... support or dps? are you kidding me?

Which kind of support do you mean? Cast Manaflow... wait until its up, watch carefully the raid who needs mana.... cast Manaflow on this member... wait until its up..... and so on?

This is a thing you can do next to dpsing.... support AND dps is the way. When support is a need.. fullfill your support roll but the rest of the time get you [Removed for Content] up.

Simply put I do thisIf healer gets under 20% or tank gets around 10% i'll toss out channeling. If either of those two run out of power the group can get into trouble. I dont worry so much about others in the group until the very end of a fight. Using it any other time can [Removed for Content] folks off and seems to be a waste to me. The more caster in group the more effective it is, a tank can become completely filled and the rest of the group up to 75% off using it at AD3.
