Was wandering through Freeport yesterday and the place is a ghost town (and not in a good way). Other than NPCs the only bodies I saw were two other players near the docks. Has FP been abandoned? Is it because travel to and from there is difficult? Did everybody go to Neriak and Gorowyn? Its pretty depressing to wander a massive city like that and not see anybody.

Come to think of it, Qeynos has not been a hotbed of activity either. I know a lot of folks are out questing but its not so much fun to just see NPCs around all the time. I don't play on the RP servers so maybe its different over there.

Are there plans to do anything about this? New quests in existing territories? Revamp of some of the quests in CL and Ant? Reduced rent for housing in FP and Q?

I see a lot of ppl still in fp and qh it might just be your server. Now its not what it used to be because im sure a lot of that has to do with how outdated the housing is in both of those cities when you can get way better housing in the other cities for cheaper even.

I've lived in Freeport for 3 years now. Nothing has changed. I go straight to Begger's Court and vister the TS instance for the broker than log out. I go to EFP to take the bells to Nek or TS. That's about it. Other than turning in faction items or buying consignment stuff, no other reason for exploring.

I've always thought that Freeport and Qeynos needed a makeover or at least have some more dynamic live events within the city.

Might be your server or time of day. On Kithicor FP and Q are packed almost all the time. Depends on the neighborhood. Main town areas (EFP/WFP), QH, are all very well-populated when I'm on.

SC

Kithicor seems to be thriving very well. I continue to see new player questions every night and a LOT of people in the city zones almost always.

That really depends on the time of day and what server you are on.

On Permafrost during the evening there's always players hanging around between the docks and the broker in Freeport. The same is true in Qeynos. I've noticed that Qeynos has always seemed more populated than Freeport. The starting zones like Baubleshire, Starcrest and Willow Wood always seem to have a handful of players. The starting zones in Freeport always seem to be deserted.

In Neriak, the Dockside Markets area is always bustling. It's nice having a small area with all the amenities like broker, bank and tradeskill stations. Kelethin always seems busy as well. Gorowyn is another area that has been pretty populated lately.

The main problem I see with the original cities is that they are far to tedious and time consuming to navigate.

Also, with the population spread out between 5 cities now, they are bound to feel empty at times.

I play primarily evenings into late nights (EST) and weekends, mostly on Mistmoore. I do see a fair amount of folks running around in Kelethin and in Gorowyn just hardly anybody in FP or Q. Seeing this in a lot of the older content locales like CL, Antonica, TS, Nek Forest, etc. I can spend hours running around Ant and never see another player unless I happen to be grouping for Stormhold and Blackburrow.

Adding to the emptiness in Freeport (and Qeynos) are the fact the population is spread out - if you don't care about housing, you tend to bank/broker/live in the starting area - and there are 6 of those to split the local population into + 2 major areas for larger housing. In the newer cities (especially Neriak) things are more concentrated - so you see a greater % of the players present.

As former EQOA player I expected freeport to be packed when I first set out to find it, but found a dead zone instead. It was pretty eery to see the huge everfrost tree in it and then not a soul around it.

I decided it was due to it's location. The commonlands go on forever and the only area next to it is nektulos which then is a long frigging walk if you don't have griffons. Not a wonder why it is empty.

The Island of Marra is also like that..but it's a really cool place so I don't care.

The most populated areas I have seen this far are (permafrost):

Butcherblock Mountain

Gorowynin the broker area not in the main city which is like a huge waste of space imo) the dock area is also lightly populated

Enchanted Lands all kinds of mid range characters from 25-50 sort of reminds me of Darvar Manor in EQOA.

Nek docks

TS docks

Neriak and the darklight woods.

I hate FP... not only is it the most ugly and depressing city in the entire game. The lay out and design looks like it was done by a monkey... or a wandering cow. I spent 2 hours one night trying to find the blasted tradesfolke house in WFP... at the time I didnt know where it was and had ran around north FP atleast three times, and efp. and then finally logging out in disgust. The little trade village in WFP is buried in an little alley you have to run around to get to. Its in serious need of a redesign. Ive got two FP charas, and as soon as I picked up the free house I went straight to gorowyn. The houses and banker and crafting area and broker are all in the same area... none of this rediculous running between zones.
