View Full Version : ZOMG BUFF TIME

Wow anybody else a little frustrated with our buff time? I calculated a total of 37 seconds of buff time, all while having to stand still. The Karana deity pet takes 10 seconds by itself! I mean, as a monk, I have 3 or 4 buffs to cast after a wipe, and I can cast them all while on the move. No problem. But it is a [Removed for Content] ordeal to rebuff as a fury. Why is there even a cast time on buffs that are "until canceled"? I can understand on temp buffs, but cmon. There is no reason for making me stand still and tell the tank to wait a minute for me to buff before we set out again. It is more than a little irritating, methinks. Thoughts?

How nice it would be to just spam group buffs with no cast time and have infusion hitting everytime...But prior to infusion, the need to cast buffs is to prevent all out zergs on raid mobs Time to recover is important..plus its not like 37 seconds is a lifetime...

Grr why must everyone be so argumentative? Are you serious that you ENJOY having around 12 buffs and having to make your group wait (or better yet get left behind) while you stand there and buff? C'mon man, I know you are just playing Devil's advocate, but Jesus tap-dancing Christ we are on these boards to complain together. The Infusion proc'ing is the most garbage explanation I've ever heard. I didn't ask for zero cast time (altho I would trade infusion outright for that) all I asked was that they be taken down, or -even better- be able to be cast on the move. I mean *what the heck?* is with the 10 second -standing- cast time of the Karana pet??? And it's not like they could make infusion not proc on those buffs in that case. C'mon man let's work together here to get something fixed that is dragging down some of the fun of a class.Pardon me but I didn't cuss at any point there, thanks for editing it out to protect the mentally handicapped and those who can't handle acronyms that may (or may not) contain expletives...

I agree, especially about the [I choose not to control my vocabulary, thank you very much] pet. 10 seconds is annoying as hell...my tank only takes .5 seconds to cast her pet, why not my fury? And being able to cast on the run (at least, our buffs) would be the best thing since sliced bread.Edit: Yay broke 500 posts.

Cast on the run I wouldn't mind, but why must we come here to "complain" at all..is our class broke, no...if the buffing bothers you so bad that you would give up infusion to have insta buffs..double u tee eff lol..god pet taking 10 seconds is a minor nuisance at best..I am not being argumentative I just don't agree that our buff time is a problem. It is inherent with the class and a simple, hey guys give me 45 seconds I need to buff works wonders.

sorcys, shammys, clerics have more buff time than furies because they have more single target buffs than we do. healers will always have a long buff time. most of the time by the time ur finished, u dont have as much time left of rez sickness. yes i do like when i play my monk & assassin because u can move durin their buffs, plus they dont have as many, but buff time is just somethin u have to deal with as a healer. try dieing durin a raid, getting rezzed & havin to recover power, keep heals up on ur group & buff at the same time. just becomes something that u get used to & a part of the game.

I agree and disagree with our buff times. I understand that they take time to cast for a reason. The 10-second pet is a little ridiculous, but what really irks me is in a lot of (good, high-level) groups even if you ask people to wait, they will run off and return to the point where you wiped. Forget putting Feral on that assassin, or giving the tank his damage proc, or buffing the mages! I end up having to make the group wait on me, then running to them, at which point they pull so I have to heal, and I have to rebuff them in the middle of a fight. This is really annoying when you wiped on a named. This problem is just compounded when you have a slow loading/zoning time, because everybody else is always done by the time you're loaded! On the other hand, be happy you're not a defiler. They have a decent amount of buffs, plus their 10-sec deity pet, and then they also have to summon their pet (wait for it...wait for it...okay NOW the dog is up!) who promptly dies 15 seconds later even with an entire aa line dedicated to keeping him alive. Oh the humanity.

Gee, wow. People will complain about anything. My little fury uses every buff she owns, including vim and her other single target buffs. My group never has a problem waiting for her to rebuff. And if you are a decent healer, your group should not be dying enough to really worry that much about 12 seconds of buffing, anyway.

I dunno, in every group I'm in the longest buff times are druids, both myself and the wardens all take forever, and everyone else is far beyond anxious before we're half way done with our buffs. When Spell Consolidation comes I sincerely hope that they make our total buff time around 10 seconds, and hopefully push all our group buffs into one buff, even if it takes 2 or 3 concentrations.

TBH, the best way to upgrade these things wouldn't be new separate spells, but to add effects to the existing spell when it's upgraded. For instance, We have a Mask line (physical mitigation and health regen) and a Hunt line (heat mitigation, cold mitigation and health), which could easily be combined into one buff (possibly taking 2 concentrations). At level 5 we get the Mask line, at level 16 we get the Hunt line, so I'd suggest that at level 16 they be combined and continue to be combined through max level. That wouldn't change the game too much (occasionally you'll leave one buff off to use the concentration slot for another single-target buff, but that'd be the only time) and even that could be remedied by making it a 1 concentration buff.

Some cast times need to be shorter, such as the diety pet casts, our starter spell in the Druid line, etc. Yes, Fury's have far too long buff times, but I'm hoping that's addressed whenever Spell Consolidation comes (hopefully soon).

Actually spell consolidation was very much coming, prior to RoK...it was one of the hot topics on the forums before it got canned a month or so before launch.

Huh. Well, that's a bad idea. I hope it never goes through.

I think that the problem isn't so much with the buff time as with the groups that cannot wait a minute for us to buff up. After a wipe, sometimes the tank is down the hall trying to get back to where we left off while I am still waiting on the stupid pet.

Hence, I would prefer a tank/puller root spell ("stay, fighter, stay&quot to speeding up the buffs. Until then, I have to rely on group chat.
