Hi all, sorry couldn't figure out how to select my bruiser, but oh well. I have been playing a bruiser lately - just hit 40 and I have a couple questions (which I am sure are posted, but I couldn't find things easily), so thought I would ask again. sorry if they are answered or are just totally subjective.

1. Unarmed vs MC weapons with stats. I have gone the line of the unarmed and I have the chi at the end with the 15 minute reuse timer - which is quite long, but I was not sure if this line is best.

I really want to be as much of a dps class build as possible - so, do you think going the way of unarmed is best or using good quality MC weapons. I saw a post on this but I didn't get any good info from that thread.

2. Should I just increase all the percentages on my attacks and put 5 points in each?

3. This was asked before, but do you have to do the whole bloodline chronicles questline before you can get that spell called something like devastating fists?

thx

There are many posts about this and you should search it out. I would say just try out different setups till you find what benefits or works for your game play. I personally use the strgth line atm and I like it. I am not saying that it is the best dps settup as there are many who say it isn't and that is cool too. I use weapons from time to time but when I am soloing I find that the strgth line (row #4) has other benefits (while minor) of making me just a tad tougher.

I will say that the strgth line should be revised as many of the lead bruisers here on the forums speak of to allow double attack with weapons but to a lesser degree (like 25-30% with weapons and if no weapons it would remain like always 96%) and allow use of pressure point and the other areas with weapons equiped.

As far as mc weapons being better due to having a "chance to proc" or adorns to me was never a solid enough benefit to make me want to use weapons just for that reason. I just never had the "proc" do its job often enough to say that it increased my dps. I like stats on weapons better than I do procs and to me that is a stronger reason to use weapons. Anyways if I use weapons and adorn them it will be for stats/attributes and not a damage proc.

On devistation fist I can't remember correctly but I do believe it must be completed, but I could be wrong.

My advice is stick with barefisted until such time as you get yourself the very best T8 fabled weapons. If your main thing is tanking, however, disregard this advice.

You can Buy Dev Fist on the broker...and it's cheap.

As far as the weapons go, I am level 75 now and was using the STR Line up til I was in the low 70's...72 actually...and I respeced out of it because the MC and now the Legendary stuff was better than the STR Line for my level. I noticed a nice change in howelong it took me to mow a mob down once i respeced. But at your level, my opinion is stick with the STR Line as you will be better off power wise and you will save alot of money on weapons as you level.

I dont think I would put my AA's in the Bruiser line CA's though...I think there are better places for those. Like the AGI/WIS/INT Lines. I would, however, put the heal up to the 5 AA's it takes. But leave the rest alone til you max out the 70 AA's in the Brawler Lines. Of course, just my opinion.

Str Line is Overrated, but a nice line if you are low on cash and wanna wait till 72 too buy some MC/adorned weapons. but id jus hold off untill you can get LEgendary/fabled for what ever tier you are in. Agi4,8,8...Sta4,4,8...Wis 4,4,8...Int 4,5,8 imo gives the best dps, if the points are placed right, thats with 70 too so blah im done here

If this is your main,You should spend at least a a couple hours a day for a week, in each tier (T4-T4) harvesting for your adept III's then you should have some rare metals/wood for MC imbued weapons, and gear, and be adept IIId out. You'll need less time in the first 3 tiers, and should just go STR.If this is an alt, get MC-Fabled weapons.

Hi, thx all for the replies. I got my bruiser up to 50 today and starting to like it a bit more, however it seems it is a semi-good tank and a semi-good dps class. Not quite sure yet what to make of it. LOL, I guess i need some more time playing it and figuring out how to play it right.

For example, is there some GOOD order to cast your offensive spells? Is there a best stance to use even when you are soloing? for example my setup is - Intimidating orders, Stance Magmatic Fists, Quarrel, Battle Fury, and Rousing Cry.

I have no order or understanding on when to cast all my offensive spells.

I went ahead and bought all MC gear including weapons for stats. I have good stats for my level now with str and agi and stamina.

Just feels as if almost all the classes do more dps than me and I am not a great tank compared to sk, zerk, guard, so not quite sure what I should be focusing on.

My talents are in Str and then int lines. I have also given 5 points into Healing and 4-5 each into each of the schools of increase damage by 20-25%.

Anyways, there it is.

Trooth Or'Dare

If you got weapons, you should drop the STR line and go for the WIS or AGI line. You are going down a line that is dependant on NO weapons.

Drop the STR Line and put your AA's in another spot in Brawler tree. Either AGI or WIS.

2. Order of CA's....prolly everyone does it differently...but here is an example of mine...

a. Use Eye Rake and Burning Lunge early do the dmg takes its toll and when they refresh you hit wem again.

b. Put a stun in front of 100 Hand's, you will get a better chance of max dmg....and u could go behind to get an even better chance.

c. Use a stun before Merciless Stomp(Crash Line) and you will max the dmg. Not sure why, but it's the truth.

d. Use Stun before Dirty Punch...of course you know this im sure as it don't work any other way. But, one of the Lines...I think INTor WIS has a strike that turns the mobs back to you....I reccomend that before dirty punch as it almost alwys works well.

e. Use HO's still. When I have gone though all my CA's, I leave Hammer Fist up and when the I need the HO, I hit the buttion to trigger HO, then Hammer then the green AOE Taunt cause it interupts the mob and gives you the DMG. The Merciless Stomp and the Hammer Fist seem to be the ones that blink after the HO's are initiated...and you don't want to use the Stomp unless its the only thing up fer the HO. The Stomp should come right aftre the Stun.

f. Keep Shocking Fists refreshed throughout the fight.

g. Keep you buffs up that are until cancel. You put them up once and don't worry about til you are dead and need to refresh <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

h. I usually use the Balanced Stance...but others toggle more with going Offensive...then defensive once they are waiting for CA's to refresh ...then back again.....thats too much for me...im lazy.

i. have good food and drink with the added STR/AGI. that is for your level.

j. LAst but not least, we are great soloers and until you get to RoK can tank just fine too! Im sure theres more...but keep with this and you will rock the house. If you do like to tank, be active and fast pulling fast and furious to keep everyone happy. Use Def stance in hard mobs and keep your taunts adept 3 or better.

k. when tanking, if you have a big group of mobs on you, cycle through the mobs hitting each once so they build hate. Our taunts are kinda sucky and we need to keep agro...so this is the best way aftre you have used your AOE taunt. So, hit each mob once...then concentrate on killing each one hitting your AOE taunt as it comes up and the single taunt too. Keep taunting. We build hate by htiing the target, so sometimes, if you need to peel a mob of a trigger happy wizzy, and the taunt doesnt work...use Rescue...or if thats refreshing, hit the mob a few times and he will take notice and taunt aftre hitting if it still hasn't peeled of the wizzy. Also, DEV Fist wil always Draw AGro. Use it too.

I use a Knockdown/Stun so thats y I forgot it was a knockdown. Good point.
