... and yet I can't for the life of me remember where I read it, or if it was official, or a fan fic.All I can really remember was it concerned the ruling of Cabilis, and that each "guild" (Brood of Kotiz, Crusaders of Greenmis, Legion of Cabilis, etc.) were quarreling with one another trying to gain control over the entire city. The part that sticks out to me most though, was that it went on to detail that they were all afraid of the Court of Pain, and Grand Master Glox, for they all knew that if he were to awaken from his meditations and try to gain control of the city, no one would be able to stop him.So, I guess my question is, does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about, and where I might have read it?

You might have read it on an old EQ1 thread. A guildy of mine remembers it and said that instead of one leader, they formed the Emerald Circle with a leader from each caste. I guess this was after the battle over FoB.

There is more to it but I can't remember, it's been so long. There is also a little mentioning of the Emerald Circle in the EQ1 online manual.

I think the Emerald Circle wasn't the ruling power...becuase we know that there was an Emperor in EQ1, Emperor Veskin(sp) the same one we find in CoA. he supposedly had a huge palace, and a huge nearly palace sized dungeon, devoted to his love of torture. If I remember right I think Vhalen or one of the others mentioned him in one of the threads we have, I'll look for it.If anything I would say that the Emerald Circle held some politcal power, but not all of it.EDIT: Found it.Vhalen wrote:

I see that a few of you are curious about the mighty ruler of the last iksar empire, sometimes referred to as the Cabilisian Empire. This great warlord was none other than Emperor Vekin, an iksar that was both feared and revered. His tale may be discovered soon enough, but for those that cannot wait, here is a bit of lore.

Who is he?

VH: Emperor Vekin was the first ruler of the Cabilisian Empire. He resurrected the iksar nation after the End Days.

What caste does he belong to?

VH: Emperor Vekin was a born warrior. He used his superior martial skills to unite the small bands of iksar that were scattered around Kunark during the Age of Turmoil.

Where did he come from?

VH: He hailed from a warrior tribe. It is rumored that this tribe descended from the elite soldiers of the Army of Ik. The particular military unit that his tribe spawned from was said to be very sadistic and they were known for gruesome acts of torture.

Was he the one to retake Cabilis and found New Sebilis, or has the new Empire had more than one Emperor so far?

VH: Cabilis, a former iksar city, was captured by Emperor Vekin's legion and declared the capital of the Cabilisian Empire. He resided within Vekin Palace, a grand structure within Cabilis. This palace was like no other. Inside one could not only find the opulent chambers of the Emperor, but also a vast underground dungeon. Vekin enjoyed the art of torture and made it a part of his everyday life.

Is he at all connected to the Sathir line, of which the last one we knew was Chottal?

VH: Vekin has no Sathir blood flowing in his veins.

What is his attitude towards the world outside Cabilis, and what are his plans for Kunark?

VH: Emperor Vekin wanted the iksar to return to glory. Building his legions and claiming Cabilis were his first big steps. What came after that has yet to be discovered.

How does he regard Venril Sathir?

VH: Emperor Vekin does not look favorably upon the resurrected Venril Sathir. He and many other iksar saw Venril's return as a threat to the rise of a new empire. The new armies being formed by Venril were not merely iksar soldiers, but also of a supernatural and often undead nature. The Cabilisian Empire and Venril Sathir would be destined to come in direct conflict. What came after that conflict cannot be known until you set foot upon the rediscovered continent of Kunark in the Age of Destiny.

Nice! I found this, too. I'm guessing this was put together back in the EQ1 days. Good times This timeline goes from -2813 to 0 (present) in EQ1. Does that mean he starts his rule at or around year 0? I also remember doing one of my Necro skullcap quests and putting together the Sceptor of Emperor Vekin. Hmm

http://otherworlds31279.yuku.com/to...y-Timeline.html

This is just part of it:

-1850 - -1796 : A fifty-four year war erupts between the dragonkind and the Iksar, when Atrebe attacks the Ring of Scale with all the might of his airforce. His first victories are decisive, but he awakens a sleeping fury in the dragonkind, and many an Iksar town and city are laid waste by powerful dragon fire and elder magic. In the end, Ganak clashes in the sky above the Field of Bone with Jaled-dar, leader of the Ring of Scale. In a mighty clash, they are both incinerated by magic and fire and explode into flaming chunks which rain down upon the land. The war is inconclusive, but the Ring of Scale is smashed and broken, and the dragons retreat from their relentless hunters. The Iksar are quick to rebuild from the devastation using all the might of their slave labor. Ganak is hailed as a great hero, and his death is mourned for years to come. His only son and successor, Chottal, rises to take his fathers place on the imperial throne. -1795 : In a final blaze of revenge, a horde of dragons attacks the imperial palace by night, destroying it and the king. Only a handful of dragons escape with their lives, however, and they vow to return one day when the empire is weak. With no heir to the throne the Iksar nobles create the Emerald Circle, which will rule in the stead of a king. -1795 - -1525 : The Emerald Circle of nobles rules the Empire with total authority. Cities are enhanced and trade is expanded. The navy is rebuilt and prosperity returns to the empire. -1524 : Arguments over land and influence escalate to a fervorish pitch within the Emerald Circle. With no enemies left to vanquish, the Iksar nobles turn on each other, and the Empire is split asunder into five great states, each based upon the ancient tribal divisions of the Iksar themselves. -1523 - -1296 : Over two hundred years of civil war wrack the continent, as noble families and merchant houses wage war after war against their neighbors, each seeking to gain the upper hand and claim the title of emperor. The Ring of Scale has its agents meddle in every alliance and affair, always pitting the lords against one another.
