As a 66 mystic, i am trying to figure out the best way to aa spec to maximize healing for a small group. I constantly run in a group of 4, we have a main tank, and 2 dps classes. I don't care much about doing damage, or getting into melee, i just want to be able to keep us alive. Can anyone give me a bit of advice on what AA's to go with? For example, which is better, the agi heal crit chance, the str pet proc, or the sta cure casting speed?

Also are the wards on the cures in the second tree worth it?

Thanks in advance.

DISCLAIMER: I am by no means a great mystic. As far as gear/knowledge/skill go, I'd say I'm pretty average.

Ok, with that out of the way, I'll throw my advice out there. By and large I find curing to be of minimal importance in a single group situation. Now there are some effects that really hinder you or your tank, and those need to be cured right away, but that's usually in a raid situation. Your 4-person group should be mowing down Heroic encounters so quickly, that curing won't even be an issue 99% of the time. If you're feeling lazy, you could probably get by with just refreshing ST and Group wards, and let the cures and debuffs slide until you come to a named mob. Now, I'm not advocating that playstyle at all, I'm just saying it's enough to get you by for the content you are doing.

Similarly, the heal crit is nice but probably unneccessary most of the time. I would definitely go down the Strength line first to get your dog proccing. The 400ish point ward seems small, but it goes off all the time, and really does add up to a significant amount of mana-less/non-button pushing damage prevention over the course of the night. The AoE blocker is much less reliable, but again it's free and will save your group some wear and tear over time.

The buff enchancer line in the EoF tree is another good one. It never hurts to have your group be a little bit tougher, a little more health, etc.

Aside from those two trees, the AGI tree in KoS and the Melee tree in EoF are really the ones that make any sense for you. I know you mentioned you don't care about dealing damage and getting into the thick of combat, but honestly if you look at the alternatives.... they just don't give anything that even remotely compares. Go AGI for the crits (both melee and healing) and go down the Melee tree if for no other reason than to grab the end ability that makes your dog a bit tougher - this prevents the frustration of recasting him 15 times a night due to getting one-shotted on the occasional riposte.

I think the point needs to be made that aside from a couple things in the Shaman tree, Mystics really don't get much "healing" help with AA's. Our AA's focus more on augmenting things that we are weak at than improving strengths.Once you start doing RoK content you'll start seeing items which can in fact add a great deal of healing function to your Mystic. My only caution to you is to not start RoK too early and run out of content. A group of four players will be able to grind out RoK rather quickly, but you'll also finish the content before you hit L80 if you start RoK too soon.

In ROK the Signet of Thuuga is fairly easy to obtain through a sequence of quests with mostly soloable content. (ok so you're not 75ish yet) A Firstful of Metal is the starter of the sequence. The reward is selectable with similar level of reward that should fit most your non-healer friends as well. Strength line allows your pet to proc wards tends to be the biggest heal improvement. The wisdom line when macroed into your heals will allow your direct heals to cast 20% more (assuming you only seldom resort to direct heals.) I think I've seen some healing mystic go the stamina (which doctor line) still for the group unconscious health buf and the faster cures, though I switched from it to wisdom and am happy. Since heals don't have large spreads, critting them is pretty much a flat percentage increase, though the crit improvement applies to wards and heals. In a small group the DPS benefit you'll get of the melee cits and jumping into battle will likely be noticable. I used the extra aa points in ROK to get the heal crits. You really have no useful choice but melee AA's and augmentation in the mystic tree.Korgo the Vault Keeper in the Vaults of El'Arad drops a hat (not listed on eq2i apparently) which is a high quality manastone type clicky as long as you are wearing it.

Thanks for the advice all, that helps alot. I think I will try speccing into str tonight to see how that feels, and thanks for the quest links, I am looking forward to getting into RoK gear.
