Whenever I tank that zone, I have someone pet pull him to the hall by the Animator room. Then I hotkey a macro to target him. This gives us extra time to kill the adds and control what direction D'vinn attacks us from. Just make sure all the mobs are cleared up to his room. His bodyguard mobs will leash back if you pull him far enough.

D'Vinn's nasty. Every 25% of his health (ie. at 75%, 50%, 25% and I think upon death) he disappears and spawns his shadows, then when you kill them he respawns where he left off. You need to have an off-tank expecting the shadows, or an MT who's really on-the-ball.Yes, they'll go for the healer right off. What does your group do when faced with an encounter with a healer in it? Yup, go for the healer. Mobs, dey's gettin' smarter all de time, ain't dey? D'Vinn'll do this as well as the shadows. So expect this, have the MT and the off-tank hit them with taunts and damage as they come in (single-target for D'Vinn, group/AOEs for the shadows). Then have a designated MA for your damage types to follow to burn the shadows down, leave the MT free to work on anything that's still on the healer. Note: if you've got someone in the party that can FD, have them to it right after taking down the shadows. D'Vinn repops where he was when you first came in, not where you killed him. Take advantage of this, keep the fight well clear of his respawn point and use FD after dealing with the shadows to give your group time to recover. This fight's an exercise in aggro control and power conservation.

The only reason they seem to go after the healer is because since he's respawned, and aggro'd someone, the only thing that has happened is someone has been healed. Until someone hits him it's fair game.

Ditto with other mobs, the tank's hit them with a ranged attack and a taunt and the healer hasn't done anything yet and they still try to go for the healer first until the tank gets in another taunt and a couple of melee hits.I put it down to the improvements in the mob AI that came in with RoK, eg. the ones that have caster- or ranged-type mobs (like the drachnid archers) sit at range and attack you and never venture into melee range at all no matter what the tank does. Which is, of course, exactly what a similar type of player would do, isn't it?

Heals cause a lot more aggro since RoK.

The worst case was one where my mystic was literally on the opposite side of Thundering Steppes from the rest of the group (I'd just arrived in-zone and was heading to a gryphon tower) and as soon as the tank (a berserker) smacked the mob the mob targetted me and headed off at a dead run in my direction. I'm sorry, but it's simply not possible to heal someone in the group from that range. My group buffs aren't even up on people at that range. The whole thing was simply insane.

Yes, D'Vinn immediately aggros a healer or mage character upon respawning.

Having played a wizard in there, I was frequently the one to go down when he re-popped. Having a tank throw an intercept on me sometimes helped.
