Ive soloed only so far (L51). No duos or groups yet (although Ive grouped and raided in EQ and WoW). I've seen the raiding sticky and searched for "grouping" but with limited results.

I am wondering what spell casting sequences grouping necros would use? Which buffs on the group, which debuffs on the mobs, probably using the scout pet assisting the MT after aggro is established. In a single group do you usually wait on a rez or try to do it mid battle? Probably hand out hearts to those that can use them. Probably not FD unless a wipe is coming? These are the assumptions I would make, but i am not at all sure about all of this.

Basically, would love to read a thread or response that lays out grouping tactics for mid level necros so I can begin to do some grouping without messing up too much. Any situational guidance on pet to use, spells to be sure to cast, etc. would be appreciated.

Thanks for your helpful responses....

I have to say I am against posting any sequence of spells ... this only leads to mindless button mashing and grr it's not for me.

What you want , really, is to understand ALL the spells at your disposable and use them at the appropriate time.

For example, don't bother casting debuffs on a mob that's going to be down in 2 seconds anyway. If you happen to fight a tough mob, which requires attention ... like an orange name and the group knows it's going to be a tough fight then yes you start with debuffs ... throw in a hex doll if you have the time, drawing of souls, abominable mark.

Do not just throw in your pets first chance you got, as the mob's first ae spell will knock them all down. If your tank knows what he is doing he will move a bit and position himself so that the mob has his back turned towards the rest of the group. Then, you can cast your pets for maximum effect. If your tank doesn't do that then , if possible , move a bit (avoiding aggro from other mobs) and position yourself behind the mobs.

Do not ever unleash all your spells , right away, remember them tank needs to hold aggro so give him 10 second and then gradually start casting offensive spells. This means basically, learn to play with the tank you have and adjust yourself to it ... some may do a great job at keeping aggro and you can just cast your eyeballs out.

If you happen to get aggro, do not run like crazy all around, getting more mobs onto you. Instead use your AA abilities and perhaps your class abilities to get rid of aggro. Heck use the deity line abilities as well. there's a very nice de-agro thing there.

DO NOT use AOE spells everywhere you get a chance. You may get mobs through walls and you don't want that.

Sometimes you may have mezzers with you and they might just mezz all mobs execept the one the tank is fighting ... in that case DO NOT use encounter spells as they break the mezzes.

most of all ... avoid any sequences , learn to use your arsenal and mostly remember that a dead necro is no good to your group. you can always be the one that FD's and stays alive when your group wipes ...

Well one thing I gotta say about mezz is that if you happen to cast our AE dot with a mob being mezzed prior to casting you will not break mezz. Our AoE lifetap will break mezz though.

I'm a fan of the mage pet for PvE because of /pet ranged plus its small lifetaps help out a little for the group and from testing with a fellow 70 necro the mage pet does seem to outdamage the scout pet.

Only thing I have to say about casting order is with short fights I just use lifetap and the rotting line.

Another thing I'd like to say is pass out hearts to everyone in the group and make a marco so they know and other necros know who already has a heart from you.

Last thing is turn off pet protect me/self so your pet won't be attacking things that it shouldn't.

You have played 51 levels and you don't know what spells translate to grouping?

ummmm yeh ok...here's my advice, do damage.

Not accusing you of course, because that would be against forum rules, just saying is all, but I really wish eBay and other companies would include class manuals on accounts they sell.
