<span style="font-size: 12pt;font-family: "Times New Roman";">We all know the plate healer quest loot totally sucks in RoK. That's now a given; <span style="font-size: 12pt;font-family: "Times New Roman";">it's all chain and leather<span style="font-size: 12pt;font-family: "Times New Roman";">. But I want to make sure that I'm not missing something. Are there any quested (non-raid) items in RoK that I should specifically work towards as a higher level templar? Any flecks of gold (heck, I'd take silver) amongst all this mud?

Currently, 72 Templar.

I raid, but will not likely do much of it until I'm much closer to 80, so in the meantime I gave up on finding reasonable quested gear. There are a few general items that might be interesting and I will certainly keep my eyes peeled for in-combat power regen items, but nothing has jumped out at me yet as "must have." With that in mind I commissioned a complete set of T8 plate armor and almost a complete set of jewelry and a +WIS book for my ranged slot. It really was an improvement over my partial Legendary/T7 Master Crafted, and my one or two fabled items. I got the gear that has +STR, +STA, and +WIS and the legs/chest were imbued...it really seemed a great fit for a Templar. I then had a couple of INT adornments made. The only thing I see as an issue now is my AGI is in the tank, but I'm not an avoidance tank anyway...my MIT is outstanding. I'm sure this gear will more than suffice until I start receiving Fabled/Legendary gear in raid runs. On the plus side, I don't think I spent more than 12P (having friends helps) for everything, jewelry, armor, and adornments. I currently use a Master Crafted two-handed hammer from T7 (I have a couple of one-handers and shields, but use the two-handed solo -- I tried this route and the damage seems to happen slower, although I don't get hit as much...it's a trade-off I think) and as of yet haven't found a replacement that trips my trigger. I'll keep looking.

A weakness in ROK is the lack of treasured crap gear for plate healers from the qeusts. And who cares really... they make nice transmutes or sell to vender for nice profit. The legendary set was not in game when launched but it is there now and easy to get from instances. So I repeat... as there was little plate healer armor from the qeusts it doesn't make a lick of difference cause you'll get better when you run instances. How many leather overloaded heal pieces you want to put on anyways?

There are great jewelry items from quests... getting mastercrafter jewelry is a waste imo. As for armor it's easy enough to get the legendary set in the instances which you can start running about level 75ish.

Some quests that come to mind (i'm out of game atm)

1. Yei-lei loops (earring from JW faction)

2. Waste Hunter Earing (earing from JW faction)

3. Reet fingerwrap (Wheel faction in KJ)

4. Neck from Vaults qeust (can't remember what it's called but it's the one that heals)

5. Signet of Thuuga (Thuuga quest line KP/fens)

6. Mace of the Imprisoned (Heroic qeust in Maidens)

7. Scale of leviathain (Charm item ... not much of a healer piece but Wiz is close/over soft cap without effort anyways)

8. Helm (can't remember name but there was a legendary helm in JW that wasn't too bad till you get the set helm or better)

Relatively easy drooped loot gear to get

1. Divine Rhapsody set

2. Dreadscale Greaves

3. Inexorable Bangle

Not so easy to get but worthwhile perusing

1. Guard of Drekilis (buckler)

2. Yeb-Soth guardian (club with dodge proc)

3. Gift of the Queen

the only mastercrafted stuff I would get (unless i was wearing T7 mastercrafted going into ROK) is the belt as it's one of the better belts.

Don't ignore the qeusts! Do them zone by zone as it is the quickest way to level and there is decent rewards if you finish the quest line in alot of cases (do wheel quests in KJ, Thuuga quests in KP/fens, ALL the quests in JW). Get faction in each of KJ/ Fens/ KP so that you have a bank/mender/broker to access in each zone. Do the faction in JW to get the port hammer. Keep your T7 plate on till you run the instances for upgrades.

I maybe lost a little bit of STR from EOF/ KOS to ROK but made up for it in power procs/ WIZ/ STA and INT. Maybe the t8 legendary set isn't as uber as the t7 legendary set but the t7 was overpowered anyways.

There is alot of (possibly overpowered) power procs on gear making FT on gear almost worthless. So don't waste your time looking for in-combat power regen.

And if you want to complain about not enough +heal gear to put on .... it's a mute point because the cap for the adeptIII reactives is ~300ish which you'll be over if you do the above quests.

THAT is what you should be complaining about... the bogus +heal caps for reactives! NOT about not the rewards from the [Removed for Content] quests you need to do to grind to 80 (which will take about 2 weeks).

You want more uber gear from doing solo quests? I think there is more than enough.

Enoa

Chokadi blue shiny collection (not positive about the name) from chardock gives a really nice belt. Group power proc on any spell and a small amount of +heals. If 2 healers have it the group pretty much stays at 100% power.

I agree about the + healing cap. It is just rediculous that a shaman and druid can beef up their heals to block insane amounts of damage or to nearly full heal a tank on the first tic of a regen. Clerics get 92 to a group reactive which 98% of the time wears off befor every tick is used.

Sadly, templars have been shafted bigtime in this expansion. The only decent plate items appear to be loot from drops, such as The Impaler's Conundrum chestplate (procs a 300 HP ward twice a minute), which drops in Maiden's I think. Jewellery is somewhat better, with there being a few nice items that we get as rewards. So for plate rewards, as somebody else said, instance runs will bear more fruit. In any case, I find soloing on a templar to be so dull in the new zones, whereas I feel our class really shines in a group situation, where I feel much more at home. Respeccing my templar to solo AAs was not an option because our guild is still raiding T7 zones, but I agree with the advice about the STR line on the KoS AA tree and smites on EoF.
