Out of all the main instances groups are running in RoK the Vekin fight has been really schizophrenic for me. I've always been in groups with two healers, and about 2/3rd of the time the fight goes smoothly with everything under control. The other 1/3rd of the time its either a very near thing, or the group can't down him. Also I see in other forums that some healers are saying they can solo heal CoA (which every other fight I'd agree with, but not the Vekin fight).

Two questions:

In the ACT parses I see massive disease damage called something like (I'm not on my gaming machine right now) Soul Corruption - or Corruption of Soul - that does 4K+ damage per hit and appears to land every 10 seconds. Also during the fight I frequently see grayed-out debuff icons showing up on group members. Does anyone know if either of these are debuffs that are cure-able? I do see some posion and even physical debuffs land during the fight that I can cure or mass-cure. But does anyone know if there are uncureable DoTs that are cast during this fight?

If anyone has solo healed this fight, how do you deal with the burst damage that lands on the tank from time to time? Its not uncommon that I cast both my single and group wards, and they literally go down ~2 seconds later. Again looking in ACT parses I see both the 4K+ corruption hit, and some other huge damage attack (Touch of something or the other - again sorry I'm not on my game machine so I don't the name of the specific attack).

If your tank is getting popped for 4k, the problem isn't you. Contrary to popular belief, resists do count for something in this game and your tank needs to be doing his part by picking gear that will keep him standing. I have solo healed every instance in EQ2 but it was done in well geared groups that have a minimum of 6k in every resist. Generally speaking, tanks aren't very smart so you may have to spend some extra time training this one on how to make your life easier.

The key to this encounter is DPS - I have tried him with several different set up and its always the higher dps groups that do the best on him. The reason is because he dispells and also drains power. The longer this mob is alive the harder the fight gets. I've tried him with three healers and basically no dps and we couldn't keep the tank alive even. I've also solo healed him and it was very easy but we had great dps.. The time with three healers I just logged off my defiler and ran my 80 necro in and the mob went down easy.

Dps is key. And keep those cures flying. As for the spike dps, yes its probably resists on the tank with a combination of not enough debuffs on the guy.

I had no idea that CoA was hard for a single healer... as the other posters have said... DPS is the key. I solo heal that joint all the time, and we have done it without a full group and took all of the names down

Cure your tank as fast as you can for this fight - the mob basically trashes your tanks mitigation - believe it is trauma - may be arcane... been a bitif you're quick enough - check the effects of that debuff on your tank to see why... once you get that down, you're okas a poster above noted you all get debuffed - why you won't see it... well your buff may still show active, but they won't be on the tank. pretty sure every 'named' mob in the zone wipes buffs. have the tank take stock of his mit/hp etc.. once everything is set at ZI, and it's up to the tnak to say hey I'm missing something... hp's low whatever... yeah it can be solo healed - done it, but not all the folks reading this are capable for whatever reasons gear who knows what else. So just saying it wasn't a problem for you doesn't do jack crap to help the community.communicate, check your buffs, check your mit, know your hp, if the tank won't talk, just rebuff after every named even if it's up on your screen. and don't worry about the elemental except maybe on the mt/mhyou're close, you can do it.
