Hey im a new low lvl gaurd and i had a few questiong. I really like the idea of having a 2 handed sword but what are the benefits and downfalls of using that type of sword and is it viable in the endgame.

No idea how low level you are. But it does not really matter much at very low levels what you use for your weapon as you don't have AAs or any particular equipment adds or really good weapon choices. Those are the things that dictate what you use in the long run.

If you plan to tank very much you will need to go with a shield at some point for survivability.

While guardians and all other plate wearing tanks are dependent on gear, gear does not make the tank, skill makes the tank.

As you continue to level up your guardian, pay attention to how well you keep your group alive, and how hard it is to keep you alive. Then make adjustments in your play style and your gear to improve them.

If you want to learn to be a great tank:

Get the best gear you can and always keep it upgraded.

Keep your combat arts upgraded to at least Adept I as you are leveling up. At each point where you get a Master 2 choice, if you can pick a taunt, then pick the taunt. Taunt masters are expensive and rare.

Focus on learning your way around zones. Nearly every group expects you to lead the way around zones.

Learn to understand the agro ranges of mobs and how to body pull them. Yes, there are lots of ways to pull mobs. But the favoriate and most used is the old fashioned body pull.

Learn to target insanely fast to pick up adds.

Develop nearly a sixth sense for danger around you and your group, since it is mostly your job to pick up wandering adds. (If you have crowd control, i.e. a mezzer, then they are a big help. Learn how to let them do their job. Good luck having one in most groups though.)

Understand how well you are holding agro. If you are having trouble, then work on doing it better. Don't assume that losing agro is your fault, but make it a priority to understand WHY you can or cannot hold agro in every situation. Then adjust for it.

Really good tanks build a reputation and are highly desired for groups. The sad truth is; there are not that many really good tanks. There are a lot of poor to mediocre tanks out there that can get a group through a zone, but as you get higher level and the content gets harder, your skill will be a big factor in group success in zones. Group success = "You get all the loot and no one dies."

Find a high level guardian with a great reputation and ask them questions as you go along. If they are not willing to answer you or give you that, "go away, noob, crap", keep looking. Having a skilled, high level guardian as a mentor to ask questions of, is a great resource.

Unless I am raiding or running a group, I always take time to answer questions from fledgling and even other established Guardians.
