The reason they run Frostfell into January is because many players go on vacation during the holiday season. Running it for a month allows everyone a chance to participate if they want.

Frostfell = easy trade xp.While I do get kinda tired of seeing the decoration, I dont mind the even running for a whole month. Maybe they could take the decorations down 2 weeks after christmas, and but keep the even going? xD

Thankfully, it isn't Christmas in Norrath or it'd be called as such. Frostfell is a celebration of the winter, and as such, is still ongoing. (Too, the designers, artists and sound folk are now in the office after the holiday break and it's going to be removed soon).

~Gnobrin!

if the OP is really going off of christmas seasons and such for his timeline, for some religions the christmas season only ended on jan 6th, so it's only been 8 days.Besides the wonderful thing about games is it's NOT real life. Means you do not have to go with preset notions of what is acceptable and what isn't like it is in RL (example, christmas season)

It's obvious the holidays are for him an enjoyable time, and the graphics in game remind him of that unenjoyment therefore making him unhappy when he sees them...sorry OP, can't make everyone happy...
The packages make me lag a little more, so I do wish they'd take em down, but I can't say I'm feeling the anger of the OP.Now that I've quit being spammed daily with that stupid mail, it just doesn't matter a lot.Don't know about the rest of you, but we've procrastinated sometimes at our house and left the christmas tree up till February And I recall frostfell lasting well into January last year also, Frostfell != Christmas.

If they would make an effort by removing the huge candy canes and present boxes (I mean really, candy canes? In Norrath??) and putting some nice winter symbolism items in instead Id be all for the thing. Same goes for other holidays. They would be very cool if done with imagination and effort, but putting a bunch of modern cultural reference objects in, some of which are of such poor quality and so bright and oversaturated that they dominate and degrade the look of the game, just bores me to tears.

Frostfell isnt christmas you say? fooeee it isnt. christmas trees (with star on top no less!). presents with bows. snowmen. candy canes. reindeer.

Mainly its the candy canes that actually annoy me (can you tell? , the other things at least make seasonal sense.

Yeah, but candy canes, Christmas trees, presents and other such decorations are part of Christmas, not winter, so it's being a bit cheeky to say Christmas doesn't come to Norrath. But I think Gnobrin knew that. It doesn't bother me that Frostfell is still going on but I'd have to say that a full month is longer than needed -- even taking into account people who vacation and are away from the game over the holidays.

These same places increase the number of days every couple or few years, up to as many as 35 days of a year I've seen after 20 years of employment. But just at 20 days, you are at a month if the company allows you to tack on your remaining sick days as vacation days when the year is at it's end.

After reading the posts about presents and decorated trees being ever so obviously from Christmas, I couldn't resist posting. Now it is true that the candy cane is from Christmas. However the decorated trees actually seem to originate pre-Christmas, from the Yule celebration of the winter holidays.Even the old fat man seems to have some pre-Christian sources as well.Over all, in most cultures, there is some form of winter celebration. This celebration usually includes: decorations with, or of, plants that are green, sometimes even blossoming or carrying berries; sharing food; and sharing gifts. It is NOT solely a Christian event.Winter celebrations happen in almost every culture that is used to definite seasonal change, and they are almost all a form of sharing (gift giving and feasting), thanking, and planning/preparing for the coming spring (resolutions, anyone?).Christians stole a lot of the seasonal celebration events from pre-Christians, so... Why cannot Sony steal from them? (... oh, sorry... that would be ABSORBED, wouldn't it? I surely cannot accuse such a genteel culture as the Christians of theft.)- Katsi

I for one am thrilled that Frostfell lasted so long. I have time off for the holidays but this year ended up being sick from the 26th through 5th. I just got to Frostfell this past weekend. I expected I would be the only one in the zone but was not. I hadn't realized that there were so many crafting items I had never made before. I have a crafter in just about every tradeskill and a couple of up and coming upstarts. It was nice to be able to increase their tradeskills in such a fun way. I really love the new robes and lanterns. Don't forget about Erollisi day. Doesn't that come in February? I would love to have some more love candles. Happy Holidays in Norrath,Zoo
