Greetings Everyone!

I just recently obtained the Return Of The Light HQ and have figured out the first part =) Now, the questions... As a level 22 Shadowknight, how easy would the quest be to complete either solo or with a friend mentoring? Do you have to have the Lightstone equipped for the light effect (if there is one)? How long roughly is this quest? And im sure there will be more questions, just cant think of anymore at this point and time, hehehehe. Thank you all for the advice and help!

I soloed it at level30 with my berserker. The mobs that spawn are grey... but they all auto aggro, so I still ended up dying 4 times in the instance to grey mobs... but I finally got it done.So yeah soloable.. just not yet =).

All barring the last step are very easy to solo at level 22 as they take place in the Commonlands where all mobs were changed to solo content. There are various named mobs to kill before the last step, so it is advisable to do these before the mobs become grey. The last step, as described in the earlier link, is to kill General Drull in the BSV Maulic's Stronghold instance. If you have a well balanced group in the high level 20s then you should be okay as long as you try to reserve power. This is made easier if you kill the scout lurking near the entrance as soon as you first enter, as this should stop or at least slow the waves of orcs that follow. If you cannot get enough high range level 20s go in with 2 groups (i.e. a two group raid).Obviously if you can find a few higher level players who will mentor down then the zone becomes that bit more easy. Finally, don't hang around chatting when you have killed the General as the zone contains epics and it is never too long before someone manages to find them, aggro them and wipe you entire party. Regarding having the stone equipped for the light effect. I don't actually remember a light effect TBH, but the item is a neck slot item not a charm so it would need to be equipped anyway.

It's got a light effect on it, but it definitely does need to be equipped for you to have that effect on.

You are correct. It does shed light (A pretty good amount too) , but only when equipped, which makes me sad.

I'm a level 69 Conjurer. The best light source in the game is the Greater Lightstone. Why can't they turn it into a removable adornment?

Why not just have it work from your inventory like the old EQ1 lightstones did?

But only when equipped, which makes me happy

(Would be pretty odd to have a light source that shines through a backpack. And no way to turn it off without dropping it off in the bank.)

* I only found this out after about two years' play... but then I'm just a clueless newbie.

Wow, ancient topic. The D.I.R.T.Y. Excavation Helmet from the D.I.R.T.Y. event in October can be worn in the Head Appearance slot and still produce a light source equal to the Greater Lightstone.

If you missed that event, there is a quest giver in Lavastorm who will give you a similar Helmet provided you naturally harvest an Ebon Cluster. You cannot get one off the broker.
