I will be playing with a single friend most of the time. What class would be best to play with a coercer?

I would suggest a fury, when duoing solo mobs, they have good dps and can heal ur pets when it gets low on hp, for named monster, u can root and ur mage pet can nuke, they can also root and they can nuke, with 2 roots and double the nukage, it will really make a good team. Not to mention u can debuff spell resistance which will increase their damage.

What do you all think of a Coercer / Bruiser combo?

Any other caster IMO. You tend to pong the mob a lot and it drives melees crazy.

I leveled up duo with a warlock and it was fantastic. We complemented each other nicely, he boosted casting skills and gave the much needed boost to subj to allow charming mobs 7-10 levels higher than me to be realistic. Both of us could root and would just refresh our own as it broke while /pet ranged gave us a third caster to nuke with.

All the situations I was uber in, he was just kinda "meh" and the reverse was true. Made the trip from 30sh to 65sh when we stopped duoing very rapid and enjoyable.

It really depends on what you enjoy. For example an optimal duo for killing is wiz and coercer, fantastic nukes and things die quickly, but one or two mistakes in a dungeon and squish -- you're both dead! Easier for you or your friend to play would be a class that has some healing ability and decent dps, such as necro or fury. PS: I box necro/coercer and wiz/coercer. Wiz is more exciting, necro is easier.

Although I may get harrassed for this, my coercer's duo partner is another coercer. With two coercers, and two charmed caster mobs we have a great time tearing through dungeons. Syllibant, and our other reactives do stack from what we have seen, and the crowd control is amazing!
I have an 80 pally and an 80 coercer, and duo'd alot with both, and I have to say I love the pally coercer combo. You get power regen, crowd control, tankage, heals, lots of stunns from both, charm, rezzes. spec the pally stamina all the way, int to spell and heal crits, and agi to get aoe auto attack. Then in eof tree wraths and hero all the way. Spec the coercer wisdom to get +subj, agi and int all the way down. On the eof tree max charm, get coercive healing, and then whatever. That combo is nearly unstapable. you can mow through mobs non stop, with a good charmed mob, just as fast as some groups could rip through zones. I dont know how well it would be at low lvls, probly ok, but at higher lvls, 50+, with 60+aa's each...unbelievable. On tuff fights where a mob is immune stunns, and the pally cant tank it....just have the coercer solo it basicly, with amends and the hate xfer from the coercer, the pally can easily keep agro incase root breaks, and not go down like a squishy. This combo can do anything. But also any dps caster, or fury would also be good to duo with a coercer.

warlockcoercer/melee will not do much.I duo'd all of the non-epic claymore with a warlock at 70.

The best duo I was ever in was me and a warlock. We'd pull with roots -- my 5% and him stacking both of his. I had a caster pet that I'd sic on the mobs and he'd unload all his stuff, and I'd just toss stuns and we'd reapply roots when they broke. Adds weren't a problem with my mezzes. We tore through a ton of heroic content in a very short time. Was awesome fun!

I've duo'd from the start with brigand, and found it to be a great duo pair (Coercer now lvl 70). The Brig can tank most anything (as long as it's a single mob) and can do some nice DPS. He'll pull a group, I group mez and with his dps (along with my DPS buff) and a well chosen pet of mine, we destroy the mobs one at a time. If he gets beat on a bit too much and dips into the red, I root and we range it to finish off. We generally can tear through about any zone just the two of us. It does take some strategy at times, and some good teamwork. But I think that's what makes the duo setup so much fun...
