what makes people say defilers have no dps? Solo "grinders"??

<p>Hi all, I'm interested in playing a shaman class. Been reading a lot of posts, and a quite a few times people say that defilers have no dps. I think thats a weird thought, just started one, and to my suprise the defilers also gets 100 % melee crits. Ok, they dont have a battle line, true, but the defiler achievements ( malaise and cursing line ) show a lot of spell upgrades, doing more damage. </p><p>Mystic's are generally seen as the better choice for solo play. I wonder why, is the fact that mystics are supposed to be better in debuffing ? </p><p>What I'm looking for is priest who can take some damage ( no leather armor ) and dish out serious damage, with decent buffs and debuffs ( love stamina and strenght buffs ). Im a player who likes to take a risk now and then, attack a strong herioc mob. Been playing sk's most of the time, and with an sk you usually can do some stunts. And before anyone says: play an inquisitor, I say thanks but no. Tried it and its not me. What I like about the sk is that you're chaincasting, so playing a toon who constanly has to cast to keep his dots and debuffs up, is thumbs up for me.  </p>

I wonder why, is the fact that mystics are supposed to be better in debuffing ?<<<The mystic combat line (converts spells to combat arts) goes very well with the 100% melee crits.  Combat art and autoattack damage is increased by high STR, which mystics buff for.  Mystics dont buff for INT which increases spell damage.   Combat arts are quick casting and non-interruptible but have no range to speak of.</span>

I have soloed my Defiler pretty much from 1 to 61 (Where I am now) and I must say that I do not agree that we can't solo or it takes forever or anything like that..I am having a blast soloing with him, can kill Heroic mobs white and yellow conned, with some risk ofc, but its doable for sure.If the question for you is Defiler or Mystic, then look at your game play, if you want a Melee class go Mystic if you want a caster then go Defiler..Both can buff/debuff and both can solo without you spending 5 mins on each mob.
