Sorry about the dumb question, but is there a difference/benefit to being a Neriak Sk over a FP one? If so, how does one change from FP to Neriak (if possible at all).

There is no difference as far as the class goes.

However there are slight changes in the zones. For instance:

Faction item merchants (fighter/cleric/scout/mage status items that drop each tier) for FP are in 3 different zones. In neriak, there is one vendor that takes them all.

Neriak has free ports to Nekulos and Thundering Steppes. FP costs you 60 silver each time.

Neriak has a banker right next to a broker. FP unless you use the rooms in zones close to a bank you have a little farther to go.

FP has a carpet to SS in the city. Neriak you have to zone out of the city and travel a ways to get to the carpet.

Neriak rooms (the upgraded ones, ie 3 and 5 room) are cheaper than FP ones.

If you have a lower end system, load time and travel through Neriak may take longer....higher memory equipment (memory leak?). FP is old school, and you'll have no problems with.

I'm sure there are more....nothing earth-shattering though.

The biggest difference of all:

Neriak is one zone

Personally I've stayed in FP, it's been home for so long I just don't feel like changing it.

I moved to Neriak from FP when they first allowed it. Overall I'm happy with it for a lot of the reasons Noruh mentioned. My biggest problem with it is getting to Sinking Sands and getting to Commonlands dock to get to Kunark. Both require some traveling where if you lived in FP you would be right there.
