Can the following steps be done with one macro? 1. Equip a bow 2. Fire the bow 3. Equip a different item into the ranged slot

Dont think so

2 reasons from what I gather..

1. Ur not able to move Bow Attack ability into a macro slot(atleast I got a message I wasnt able to) Then again I didnt test much.. Might have had the wrong macro choice when I tried to add it, or there might be a /command to fire bow with macro.

2. Your not allowed to change items in the ranged slot while in combat, unless they changed this of course.. but I believe it only applies to Primary and Secondary slot while in combat.

I hadn't tried moving a range slot item, I rarely equip a bow anyways. I have all the range attacks I need, they are called spells

you can indeed change the ranged slot in combat, i have done so, however, i dont think the macro will work, as there is still a delay in swapping items, a macro would be too fast.

It might work if you just wanted one autoattack shot for a pull or something... you'd have to use the "command" macro to turn on ranged autoattack (I think the command is "/autoattack 2", but don't quote me on that.) So, /equip Bow, /autoattack 2, /equip symbol. Probably with the first and last done by dragging the item into an equip macro, rather than using the /equip commandline. If that doesn't work, there's no way to do it. The only reason I think it might work is: when harvesting tools needed to be equipped for the 2.5 second bonus, you could make a macro that did "equip pick, mining, equip shears, gathering, foresting, equip net, trapping, fishing, requip hex doll"... and even though that all technically happened "at once", you would get the 2.5 second reduction for any harvest. So, you might get one instant autoattack off with this macro (if you weren't already waiting on weapon delay... hitting this macro when you had melee autoattack turned on would almost never work). Try it and see. I'm another one of those paladins with 5/370 ranged skill, though. Nukes FTW.

Worst case, this can be done with 2 macros side by side. It is how I do it out of lazyness.

I used to do this with aa's when you had to equip the item to use the ability.
