View Full Version : Tier 8 failures cost a FORTUNE!

I have just dinged lv70 sage (yay me!), and noticed something disturbing.

As a sage, my combines call for rock, wood, root, and fuel. When i failed a combine on previous tiers, I would receive all fuel and all root back, so I would lose the rock and wood used in the combine. Not a huge deal, as those are plentiful, and a couple of hours of harvesting could easily offset my losses.

Now, on Tier8, if I fail to "pristine" the combine (aka make the Apprentice IV spell), I lose nearly ALL the fuel used, but get more roots than I used to craft the item to begin with! Let me explain it better:

A Tier 7 combine used 1 rock, 5 wood, 5 root and 10 fuel. When I failed the combine, I got 10 fuel and 5 root back.

A Tier 8 combine uses 1 rock, 2 wood, 2 root and 5 fuel. When I fail the combine, I get 1 fuel and 5 root back! At 1g per fuel, that's a 4g loss in fuel alone! And, why is it that I get 5 roots back when the recipe only called for 2 roots in the 1st place?

I hope this is not working as intended, and that the devs (wink wink Domino) can balance this out to be more like previous tiers.

Please no "Well, then don't fail" (sometimes it can't be avoided) or "4g a failure is NOT a fortune" (4g loss each time can add up very quickly when you have to craft 100s of app IVs per level) replies... I simply want Tier 8 returns to be more in line with the previous tiers.

Thanks a mil!

/bug itsounds like the numbers got mixed up, and it should be 5 fuel 1 rootIf your making handcrafted then you should (i believe) get all fuel back on a fail, with differing amounts of roots depending on how badly you failedremember to include the receipe names in each /bug*waits patiently for Domino to arrive in thread*

It seems like it is ALL the recipes (well, at least the ones I have access to as a lv70 Sage) that are returning 1 fuel and 5 roots upon failure. I just tried making Impious Accretion, Necromantic Brand and Necrotic Reformation, forced a failure by stopping the craft at the 3rd bar and this is what I got:

I didn't keep on testing, for as I said... 4g loss per failure may not be a lot to you, but to a struggling Sage like me, it is! hehe

That is definitely not working as intended.

I honestly can't comment on how it is working, as I have yet to fail a combine, but it is supposed to be returning all fuel to you on failure for standard combines, and returning the rare only on Mastercrafted combines.

I am just purely amazed that someone mannaged to fail a T8 recipe at all.

Please refrain from making the "zomg you suck, you failed a combine" remarks. I just want to know if I should or should not be getting all the fuel back for a failed combine, if it is working as intended.

There is curently a bug with the Sage counters that will be addressed http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=401373

You maybe running into this bug. I agree at 4g a pop and nothing that can be done to counter it--that gets expensive fast.

But I believe my dial-up connection is to blame for 99% of my failures. Sometimes I get real horrible lag spikes and when the connection stabilizes, I am left with a non-pristine result.

I did read Domino's sticky on the TS forums, and it states that:

Recipes no longer yield non-pristine products. Instead, if you fail to create a pristine quality product, your fuel will be returned for handcrafted recipes, or your rare for mastercrafted. See this thread, or the EQ2Traders link above for more details.

So I suppose I will just keep /bug'ing the recipes until something gets done about it... heh

On a sidenote, I just dinged 71, and out of curiosity I failed a combine for Ward of the Untamed (App IV). This is the result:

heh... I think I liked it better when I was getting 5 roots back!

Letting your attention be distracted because the process is so boring also happens. Of course 4g is not a fortune at T8, but all fuel is supposed to be returned, so it is a bug.

I wonder if any adept 3 spells have interesting returns...

not that I'm going to test this. I certainly don't feel like loosing 10g per "test".

Am I the only one who would rather get roots back on a failure than fuel? Roots are ridiculously expensive.

T8 roots aint 1g each . . . though T8 fuel most certainly is . . .
