Brand new to EQ2 and the Paladin class. I just hit level 10, and have no idea how to spend my AA points. I took Dwarf STA bonus trait and the STR level 10 bonus, but no idea what to do for AA Trees. I also have no idea how to gear myself.Any help is appreciated.

WIS isn't very important other than to increase resists, and since it does so by a negligible amount, I wouldn't worry about it. For a tank the most important stats are 1) HP 2) avoidance 3) mitigation, so focus on increasing those before worrying about other stats. Higher STR and INT will increase your DPS, but most of your DPS will come from where you put your AA points.4,4,8,5 STA and 4,4,8 INT is a good place to put your first few AA. Alternatively (or once you get more points), you could put 21 in the Hero line - blocking mastery is an essential achievement for all Paladins. After that I would put 4,4,8 in STR, followed by 21 in Wraths. If you ever get 130+ AA going 4,4,8 WIS is another good choice to increase not only your DPS but your entire group's. If you have any more questions feel free to send me a tell in game: oasis.valyent

V had good points there, let me try to think as a beginning paladin here...I Would personally put my 1st aa's like -->INT: 4-4-8, followed by STA: 4-4-8... after that i would switch to paladin tree and try to get the Blessed weapon 5 points and also Call of inspiration 5 points... i'd put 3 pts divine circle --> 3 pts Call of Inspiration --> 3 pts Cry of Conviction --> 3 pts Enhance Doom Judgement (waisted at early lvls, since spell didnt come until lvl X [need to check this lvl]?) --> 5 pts Blessed weapon --> 2 additional points Call of InspirationThis way you can quickly max your DPS output, which helps you to kill and gain hate faster.Imo, the HERO line is nice, but all the AA's which you need to take (max all of them btw) are available fairly late, so... they are wasted in the beginning. Same with the 4th ability in the STA line, since your baseHP (which i believe the % is calculated from) is fairly low, the HP gain is also low... hence i'd put those points elsewhere, in the low lvls that is.*edit*STR line with 4-8-x also gives you haste, which helps to improve DPS... AGI line 4-4-8 is also an option with nice AoE dmg boost. After you have enuff AA:s you can take em both... so, why not? <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> (STR/AGI/STA/INT all 4-4-8, heh)*edit2*hmm... the WIS line could also be ok... dunno, havent really tried that but the +skills will increase your hit % (and your allies) and also decrease the spell resists... so, yes not bad either ++Xan

Right now, I'm running

STA 4/4/8/8/2

Wis 4/4/8/8/2

Int 4/4/8

Hero, Wrath, and into support (procs maxed and working on enough points for the cure).

As a low level paladin, concentrate on your dps more so than tanking, at your level, the faster something dies the better and the trivial amounts you can impact your defense and mitigation at that level is hardly worth the faster killing power (which trust me, you'll want).

I'd go INT 4/4/8 first, then Wraith line (you will wind up wasting a few points here for a couple levels as Doom Judgement isn't available until your 30s and Consecration(sp) isn't available until 55 and neither are auto granted abilities. I'd go DJ first instead of consecration though as that allows you into your group proc earlier. But get Smite Evil, this is a exceedlingly nice ability. (I've hit for over 3k on one mob with it and it is an AoE)

Starting my first character in eq2 in sept. 07, I can give you a few pointers you may not know for a Paladin...First things first, collect shinys, harvest, as you go through your zones do every quest before you leave, if you can, you will grey out so many quests, meaning that you wont get to finish them all, but try, i hit 70 with exactly 100 points, not bad at all...just use master crafted vanguard gear, you can use the devout, but if you go down the normal lines, vanguard will work just fine, master crafted is pristine imbued vanguard whatever... problem is that when you are trying to hit 22, 32,42,52,62,72, when you get to 20,30,40.... so on, it is tough, as your stats are getting lower till you get to wear the level appropriate gear. i also equip mc bows, and equip two types of arrows, field point, and bodkin, one is +5 range, one is heavier damage, you can solo so much easier finding a nice spot to hang out, and pull with greater range, social aggro is determined by clicking on the mob, and if others light up in area, they are social, if not, usually the bow will not pull more, and if you do, you can run fast, and not even get hit.. lol... but dont try that in dungeons, and never pull in a group as a tank with bow, unless you really know the zone, body pulling is where you walk up to the mob until it looks at you, you back away, then when the mob gets to you , you run through it, and turn around real quick, easily done in third person view... ask if you want to know more about that.as far as the aa lines, you will get one point at a time, and the burning question on every new players mind is WHERE DO I PUT MY WHOLE 10 POINTS?

so here is my guide for you as it did work for me,

you get your first points , put them in stamina, you will want to use hammer ground, and get it to 4, so you can continue on other lines, i would put 4,4 sta first, then put your next 8 in int, 4,4, and after you get that, it gets to a personal option, but that is the consensus for your first 16 points, i went down agi, and i think its a great line as you grow up , i would repeat the 4,4,8 sta, agi, int any day, it worked in the early years of my paladinship, when you hit 50 with 49 points, you will be happy with this line, as you get to start playing in the paladin tree, after you do this, check the forums, see what everyone is doing for end line runs, i am still trying to get some pointers on whether to use strength or wisdom for my third line in crusader tree, its a really tough call, as the rok mobs definitely hit harder,

if you hear paladins can hit one up yellows, and whites all day long, be ready for disappointment, as it is tough to get around on the first try. I couldn't hit any thing harder then a yellow and it took everything i had to do it. but with 4,4,8 sta, agi, int, you will have no problem, joust is great, i miss it so much right now in groups, as i have a slower computer, and when the raid or group is already hitting, i can just hit joust, and i get transported right in to the middle of the fight, i love it. i have to get it back sometime.

So advice is mc gear, dont waste money on other gear, harvest your butt off, collect as many shinies as you can, you will start to get ones worth money even at level 20. People who have other characters will pay great prices for all the 20 level collectibles, mentor down, turn them all in, then do the same for all the 30 level collectibles, mentor down, turn them in, and so on.

good luck and have fun.

This is what I'd do:448 STA You will simply see the biggest DPS incrase from that as autoattack makes up a HUGE part of your damage (~ 50%) after that you get: 448 STA, 448 INT After that there are simply dozens of builds but this is one I favour and I'm our Guild OT or MTSTR 45882 STA 44882INT 448Wraths (Smite Evil)Hero (Blocking Mastery)Support (Cure)Hero and the health increase is such an important thing to take if youre *ever* going to be tanking... even in group level... right now self buffed I stand at 9900 (59.9% avoid) and 12.1 k health with heavy stun usage and stoneskins I simply never get hit.
