I just bought a brand new dell xps 720 gameing machine,. Right away.. i smacked myself for buying vista, but i guess i dont have much say for it came with the pc. my first trouble began with the downloader stopping right before it would finish, i fixed that issue by changeing iti to run as admin. Once i did that.. i was able to get into the game to the character select screen. Once there, i cranked everything up high thinking i could run it. It requsted i restart the pc.. I did that and tried to get back in, now when the patches finish scanning and it says to " Click Play " i do, and it shuts down. I get a vista error message saying the EQ2 application has stopped working. I got no idea what to do. I have spent nearly 10 hours researching this, sending reports to SOE with no responce. I am running a

-Sound Blaster X-fi sound card.

-NVIDIA 8800 GTX

-4gigs ram

i have tried to look up drivers for both the sound card and video card, i have installed the new video but haveing trouble finding the sound card driver. Nothing on the creative site seems to match, or at lease i dont notice it. But keep in mind.. i just got the brand new machine yesterday so why would they be out dated like that ?? nevertheless, i am searching just in case. In the end.. i STILL cannot get the game to run. When " Play " lights up, and i click it, thats the end of it. im frusterated to all hell that i spent nearly 4thousand on a pc only to watch it crash. my hear is so red from smacking myself. Please help.

try turning the graphics back down...should be an options selection in the window where it scans and downloads on the right hand side.

I tried every variation on that exact graphics choice in the options before i click the play button. Still nothing but a windows vista error " EQ2 application has stopped working " and it shuts down. I read a thread somewhere that it could be the shadows, but i got no clue how to remove the shadows without getting into the game.
