I don't understand what the good come from it. Is it just to get a quick look at your pets' stats? And, 30 seconds isn't long enough for you to go scout an area with it.

I possed my t8 scout pet before the tank pulled in COA. Ran him in and spammed all his CA's. Pet got aggro before i finished his last one and got murdered by the time I almost got my shadow slip clicked. In case you are wondering, Shadow Slip is a sweet Dark elf race abilty that drops aggro one step and teleport 10mtrs. Its great for lifeburn and saves ya from using FD most of the time. Anyways, I got owned pretty good. That was pretty much the only time I have done that and I have found it is great burst DPS. The thing that sucks is you can only posses before combat and the window of opertunity is rather small for the MT to build aggro in time. A gaurdian would have probly changed then ending to my story but all in all, that is about it for using it for offence.

I use it for a few different reasons.

1) To see my pets stats...when I get a new pet, I compare its HP, resists, and spells by possessing it and hitting P...then can see all its goodies.

2) In some cases it can be used like the necro Evil eye from EQ1 where you posess your pet and send it into areas that you dont want to risk getting smushed, then you can see what is around that next corner or in the room.

Posses Minion is great in helping you position your pet behind the mob. Many mobs have forward arc AOE abilities. But PC's and pets stationed in the rear of the mob are safe from those forward arc only abilities (not from 360's however). I like to use it to position my assassin pet or ooze crawler. Another time to use possess minion is to turn the mob so you are in the rear arc and thereby safe from frontal AOE effects. Get the pet to take aggro and then, with PM, spin the pet and mob around.

It's also useful for pet pulling certain encounters over a longish distance where you need to be quite accurate, rather than reply on the pets own pathing (because you know how awesome that is lol)

I'll also just say this... there's a certain EoF zone where fire prevents players from running back through certain rooms to pull certain named mobs to a more advantagous kill spot... and targeting the named from this advantageous spot isn't always possible...

Possessed pets don't have to be pre-targeted...

There are other places in Norath where pre-targetting isn't an option or always conventient, in those cases possessing a pet can be a truely great ability.
