Just a quick question on where /is there a better place to harvest this VERY rare (to me) rare. The last two nights I have spent running around the Kynor Plains, and have only come up with one emerald and silcate loam rares. I had to dump my Island of Mara harvest bag twice to make room for all the stuff I was havesting and still only 2 rares total.

I now have 2 casters (73 Conj(72 sage)/72 Nec(50 Tailor)) needing spell upgrades, and as with all the other tiers for my charactors 37 Fury(50 provy), 38 Temp(38 woodworker), 43 Warlock (50 Jeweler), 44 Bruiser (50 Alchy), 46 Pally (50 Armorer), I like to save money by harvesting my own. The other tiers might have been slow getting what I needed but T8 is redicculus(spelling??), I have harvested since the release, and I think I have seen -maybe- 8 rares total- then you see on the broker those people with 5-12 each of several rares. Could my luck with the RNG be so bad or am I just not looking in the most appropriate spots?? I hate to spend money on rares I would normally harvest and with the price of Tynn - I have yet to see it below 3plat -(and so far needing about 12-14 new spells between the two charactors that gets just TOO expensive) I need my meager savings to feed/supply my alt-its not blow on high priced rares.

Suggestions --Constructive please - not just spend the money or harvest more-- Thanks and sorry for any spelling or grammical errors - towards the end of a LONG and aggrivating day at work.

If you want to maximize your chance at rares, get to 80 in something, max mining skill and use the Overclocked mining pick to further boost your mining skill. Oddly enough I get more Tynnonium than any other rare.

Really, the -only- answer is "harvest more". I have been harvesting a few hours a day on nearly every day since RoK launched while also adventuring. Up until last weekend, I have gotten a smattering of roots, a couple wood, a couple hides, 2 fire emeralds, and 2 tynonnium. I had gotten no silicate loam at all until last weekend, no matter how many ore rocks I harvested. In fact it was kinda funny that I would harvest 3-4 times as many ore and stone nodes than root/bush nodes and I would keep getting roots (I think I've gotten 8 or 9 so far). Then... last weekend while helping my boyfriend finish up getting to 80, out in Skyfire, I harvested 3 silicate loam within about 30-45 mins -and- a tynnonium. I was floored! Of course, I haven't harvested another t8 rare since then *laugh*.Oh.. and I created a new character last night (bad case of alt-itis at times). The very first node she harvested. 1st pull was nada. 2nd pull was 10 malachite and a lapis lazuli!Harvesting rares is just luck and persistence.

Something to me seems very out of line here though. The isle of mara bag is a 36 slot bag. Each slot now holds 200 harvest for a total of 7200 harvests, compounded by 2 for your dumping of them to say you had 14,400 harvested items and only received 3 rares total? That seems very, very off to me.I have noticed a big drop off in T8 rares but I have also dropped off my harvesting time to do questing so I havent mentioned it but this seems truly off.Is anyone else noticing these types of results? If not, I would say you have some of the worst luck I have seen in a while. Constructively:You have better chances of hitting rares the higher your skill is and the more above a level you are harvesting. IE - I hit Thundering Steppes today for a little while to test out the new harvest quest and was getting rares about 1:3 nodes. In T8 though my luck hasnt been so good. I did notice that for tynn I have had the best luck in Field of Bone in Fens; however, it is densely populated with 74-75 mobs and roamers so dont think its an easy area to harvest solo or at lower tier levels.Hope it helps and hope your luck improves.

Thanks for the input all -Zygwen - never gave the skill vs harvest chance much thought until you brought it up thanks,Rijacki - I figured I would have to harvest in order to get a rare drop but never thought of the skill vs thing until Zyg mentioned it - was still hung up on the rarity of the rares if you will pardon the pun Must really be a RNG thing since when I harvest for my lower tradeskillers I don't harvest many rares eitherandYes- Artemiz- 2 times I dumped it - but I also havested all nodes and bushes can fill you up quick along with the different meats dropped while making my way along the edge. With the meats taking up 4 or 5? (can't remember if the dragons drop) different slots for only a few of each - Giant, Spider, Drovlog, and the other I can't think of right now

EDIT- spelling - and memory - REALLY need sleep now instead of being so distracted and aggrivated from work

honestly? The problem is your level. You need to level a toon up to 80 so you have more areas to harvest. For that rare I have a couple spots that are usually people free and full of nodes. But at low 70s you would get eaten. You have lots of crafters and adventure toons. Just get one up to 80. You have a conj and a nec so you can harvest while pet attacks run break?

They give +20 skillupgrade to every harvestingskill if I remember right.
