Note, if you come here tp say, "Of course the drakkin cannot appear in everquest 2, it was after the timeline split!!!!" then please leave... just because it was added to the game after the timeline split, does not mean that events unfolded prior to their release could not cause them in EQ2. Furthermore I would like to say the opposite is possible and events leading to the drakkin's birth may not have happened in the EQ2 timeline or turned out differently. I really don't know much about the lore of the droag, but it strikes me as odd that they were not in EQ1 (As far as I know) and that the drakkin are not in EQ2. Anyways my theory is that instead of producing drakkin, droag were produced which would therefore remove the possibility of drakkin.Yall can disprove me if you want, this is sheer speculation.

The drakkin from EQ1 and the droags are totally unrelated.

Jos and I were having a friendly little discussion about possible races to mirror the Sarnak when the "good" version of Gorowyn comes out on Alla IRC ; )

Why should a good version of Gorowyn include another draconic/reptilian race?

I still think a race of insectoids would be awesome. Kinda like Bipedal stag beetles.

The next release must be Velious, and the good race must be the Coldain.

Period.

That would mean Veeshan's return, which would make me one very, VERY happy CoV Priestess ^_^

Wasnt a developer comment made that next expansion will be totally EQ2 and not a EQ1 remake?

There has already been mention of it existing in game, and we know that is where the Quellithule Erudites evolved and have even seen an Erudite teleport himself to Odus. While conversely, there has been very little mention of Velious anywhere, or in any way. Of course, that doesn't mean squat and we could very well be seeing Velious next, but I personally think it'll be Odus.I wonder if they'll build on what they had already built during development, or if they'll just scrap that and start fresh. I'm gonna say that they'll most definitely not go back to what they have of Odus mainly b/c I remember Moorguard, or maybe it was Vhalen, saying that what they had made of Odus got scrapped b/c it was poorly designed (or something like that).

Nasty bugs...gross. lol

Velious does get a mention in game, by a crazy gnome in Temple Street (he talks about Velious barren with the snow and ice all melted)

What Erudite was it that teleported back to Odus? And maybe the reason he didn't come back was because he died as soon as he landed

He was in Barren Sky, and had a quest that sent you to recover documents from the Vaults of El'arad...when you return the documents to him, he teleports himself to Odus.

Theory listings on possible good races:

1. Hoo'luks: These creatures live and fight at the moment against the aviaks and vultaks. I wouldn't be surprised if Qeynos forged an alliance with these people. Even though they aid Freeportians I highly doubt they'll ally themselves with the overlord since they inquisitive little things.

2. Gnolls: The splitpaw gnolls are a "slight" possibility in my book since adventurers aid them. It would be good to see a bit of a twist here where they are good/neutral, but the good don't fully trust em. You have to earn the trust of Qeynos, but you are fully trusted by kelethin.

3. Merpeople: There are some areas of Qeynos that we see bathed in water and it wouldn't be surprising if a kind of "Mer" race appeared. They could be like sirens except more civilized seeking refuge in Qeynos.

Sadly i'm not versed in EQ1 so I cannot comment on the drakkin. Atleast we got an official comment on them.

If I remember correctly, his spell didn't work.

The Gnolls are a very slight possibility and I can't say outright that an alliance between Qeynos and the Gnolls would never happen, but I highly doubt it. I also don't think that any known clan of Gnolls would make an alliance with Qeynos, the Splitpaw are the only known clan that even associates w/ the "good" races, but I don't think they have any interest in anything outside of regaining control of their dens. Yeah, based on the history of the known clans, I think for Gnolls to become a player race there would have to be the emergence of a previously unknown clan. I say this b/c I don't think any of the clans that we know of at the present time are intelligent enough to be a player race. I can think of only one clan of Gnolls in the history of Norrath that showed the mental fortitude needed to be a player race, and that is the clan from Velious that took over the Splitpaw Den way back in the day, the Ishva'Mal (I'm pretty sure that was the name of their leader and not the clan, but I couldn't dig up the clans name anywhere), and we have no indication they are still around. We know back in EQ one of the Gnolls, the leaders son I believe, wanted to kill his father and take his place so he tried summoning a creature from the planes and accidentally opened a conduit to the planes which eventually led to the death of most of the Gnolls in Splitpaw at the hands of powerful elementals. As for the merpeople, the only race of merpeople that I know of was the Kedge and unfortunately I don't think there are any left. They were the children of Prexus created during the first pact of the gods when the Elves, Dwarves and others were placed on Norrath. They stuck around for a good long while until a certain Kedge by the name of Phinagel Autropos decided he wanted to be more powerful, and so he went into the Temple of Prexus in the center of the Kedge city in Dagnors Cauldron and started to cast a spell of his own creation. Well, sadly, his spell went awry and he ended up accidentally killing every, single Kedge inhabiting the city, save himself. So at the time of EQlive, he was the only Kedge remaining and was driven quite mad by the guilt of what he had done. So, unless they do something like what happened in The Buried Sea expansion to EQlive, in which an ancient Combine city, Katta Castrum, was discovered beneath the ocean and was found to house several of Norraths endangered races such as the Kedge, Shissar and others, we won't be seeing the Kedge as a player race. Of course, as has been shown many times, the devs can, sadly, go against all known and established lore and retcon things into existence, so really any race that has ever existed on Norrath, and even new ones never seen, are possible candidates for new player races.
