I came back to EQ after a two year break today. When I logged in it gives me a character creation screen but I cant seem to find my old characters. I know my warlock is not deleted but where did she go? Do I have to do something special to get her back because its been so long?

Are you using the same account, because the forums say that you registered in the past few days?Also, what servers do you see on your character creation screen and what server were you on before? You might be on a different region.(Like you could have had characters on the american version, but you are looking at the european version)If so you can easily fix that. Let me go find the picture that the wonderful calthine has.edit:

Yes I'm using the same account. The last time I logged on prior to today was November 2005. I know that the character was affected by me paying the account again because she shows up as active on the database. The server is permafrost and it wont even give me the choice it just takes me directly to the character creation screen.Should I just submit a ticket?

When you click "create a character" what servers does it let you pick from?Dont create a new character though, but is permafrost on there?If not then go through the above process i posted (the part with the picture) and select the US version of the game.If that still does not work, then file a support ticket.To file a support ticket go here:http://soe-ing.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...ser/std_alp.phpthen click "In-game support"

sometimes after a long break or if the server goes down the files on your computer are not updated. Create a character..you don't have to do anything with it its just so that the game creates a file in your directory to put the character slots into it..after you have created a character reboot and fire up the game again, see if the old character will be added by the patcher, if not do it manually. Make sure though you are in the right region and able to see your old server as the op said.

In the EQ2 directory find the file namedyour login name)_characters.( if you have your old character the file will also have the region like I have some in europe and mine is called XXXX_Characters-eu).... its a configurations file. Use notepad or any other text editor to open it. Follow the excact format that was created for your temporary character and add the old name and server to the file below the existing newly created one I . Save it. now log into the game and see if it works..it works for me and others.

Here is a sample of my character file

[Characters]Character0=XXX,Lucan DLereCharacter1=XXXXX,Lucan DLereCharacter2=XXXX,Lucan DLereCharacter3=Rron,Lucan DLereCharacter4=XXXX,Lucan DLereCharacter5=XXXXXX,Lucan DLereCharacter6=XXXXX,Lucan DLere

You would add your old character as character #1 the newly chreated one would be there as character #0. After your done and it works just get rid of the character you created..to be fair to all, use a name like sfgvsgvs this way you don't lock in a name nobody else will be able to use for the next 5-6 month. Of course if you want to keep the character you are making to create the file by all means, use a real name.

J.C.
