State of Paladins at 80 etc

<p>Been away from the game for over a year but was very active in raiding top end content right before EoF..   </p><p>At that time paladins were not really a requirement on raids, although most guilds had a token paladin.   While we were capable of tanking Zerkers and Guardians were always a first option.  Where are we at today? Have we pulled any closer to Guardians/Zerkers?  Have we atleast become more raid useful?  I know some of you paladins are gonna say, if you play your toon good, and you know what your doing you can tank and do anything.  i'm well aware of this..    but if i was the same player playing a guardian or a zerker. and just as good at that class.. which toons have the advantage. thanks for any info.</p>

<p>You should check the pally forums on eq2flames.com for a response to this.</p><p> Many/most top raiding guilds run with 1 paladin as OT, but not all.  Ditto for instanced raiding guilds like mine.  The class is as valid now as ever IMO.</p>

<p>I haven't tanked any t8 stuff yet as I'm in a highly casual guild, but I think that paladins are probably the second best (and not much of a gap at that) at MTing and are the best OT in the game.</p><p>I'll probably be the primary MT for my guild, though there are some others who I'll be sure to give significant experience too as well (we have a couple guards, a zerker and another solid pally in the guild and a few others who would probably do ok with some experience as well) and to give me a chance to work on the OT role as well or even just drop back and play dps for some so I can watch more of what is going on as I'm also a Raid Leader <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" width="15" height="15" /></p><p>That being said, while I'm not at the level of some of the paladin and guards out there, I'm a [I cannot control my vocabulary] good tank and I'll get to that end game as a raiding and tanking pally.</p>
