As far as I can tell, the numbers on our spells doesn't move when we add items with +spell damage.

I haven't parsed it, so I can't say if it works anyway. Does any of you have any experience with this?

Yes it does infact add to our spells. Way I understand is its added when you damae is applied not before you cast is reason you dont see it if rollover the spell. Im sure people will chime in with much more info breaking down the way it works; left my slide ruler on the other comp so Ill leave it to them. What I will say instead.. spell crit > +spell damage. Go for the items that add to spell crit first, theres no reason why you shouldnt be rocking 100% spell crit early in ROK (assuming your taking a mature char there with AA crit maxed.)

+ Spell Damage and + Combat Art damage will signifigantly increase your DPS. I wear a full suit of incardanine devout when soloing which adds a total of +315 (+45 x 7) to both spell and combat art damage. (Not to mention + 30 INT per piece) If you move your cursor over a spell icon on the hotbar it gives you information on the spell's min & max damage range. As you add + spell damage gear you will see this range increase. After doing some tweaking I've found that a total of about +400 to spell damage is where you start to hit a point of diminishing returns. Only our highest damage wrath spell and our harm touch will see appreciable increase in damage after you go over + 400. Also, our combart arts, since they do less damage have a dropoff in damage increase after about +180 in Combart Art gear.

It's true you will get more bang for your buck if you go with + spell crit gear. Most SKs who have maxed their spell crit chance through AAs should be at 68% to start. That leaves another + 32 of spell crit gear to hit a 100%. I've quested and brokered a few pieces of gear which add to + spell crit chance but it will be a challenge to acquire enough pieces to get you to the 100% spell crit chance and not have a very dramatic decrease in your defensive abilities.

I ran around with + to spell damage equipment for a while, but to be honest I haven't foudn many pieces with + to spell damage that really suits our class. I'm sure they exist, but they're not easy to get your hands on. When I did sacrifice stats for the + to spell damage gear, I did notice an increase to all my spells, but my HP suffered. I had about 2k less HPs then most other SKs I saw. Of course, I tried with pretty much only quested rewards so that may have something to do with it.

The add to spell damage isn't wasted on us, just tough to find on gear that really suits us. My take is if you can get the + to spell damage without sacrificing too many stats its great, but if you have to give up too much then it's really not worth the extra damage. If you find yourself tanking a lot then you'll probably want the stats more, but if you're not tanking too often then you'd probably love all the + to spell damage you can get.

I haven't seen many armor pieces with +spell crit.

I use a Force Hoop in ear for +125 spell damage and the Crystalline Short Sword for an additional +55 spell damage, and a Burdened Signet ring for +3 spell crit and +70 spell damage. But that's about it. No armor items with +spell crit.

Are you suggesting that I go cloth when DPSing?

Picked up the Ring of Bastion off Imzok last night. +85 spell dmg. Nice stats as well.

Queen's Venomed Gauntlets off Tariza are quite nice too. No INT, but the rest of the stats are nice. Also has +55 Spell dmg if I remember right. Our Pally picked them up though.

So far, not a ton of +spell dammage armor that is heavy in the stats I like...but if I see any choice pieces I'll post em up. Some of the pieces I've seen drop are quite nice overall though.

Also.. +spell damage on gear will not be crittable by our spell crit AA.. +spell damage is being added straight up after crit calculation done.

INT is more useful than even +spell damage because INT increases spell damage of any spells that can be included into crit amount while +spell damage can't..

INT becomes less useful as your INT gets too high though cuz of the law of diminishing return while +spell damage doesn't have to face that problem at all.

To me, I go after spell crit>INT (If my INT is not too high)>spell damage. Plus INT helps with increasing power pool as well so that's an added plus..
