I'm leveling up a human SK, and was curious what the best racial traditions to take first are? There are several I like but I don't know what order would be best to take them in.

im kindof in the same position as you, not really sure, but i am thinking about this setup. im gonna get in this order too.

Ruggedness (3% to health), Perserverance (5 sta), Versitility (+to weapon), Tend wounds (+str and health regen), Bayle's Strike (another attack), Urban sprawn (faster call of the overlord time), Diversity (+to tradeskills), Environmental Adaptability (some mitigations)... this is the only thing i can come up with for an SK.

Character traits will probably play out

Clever, Cold blooded, Sturdy, Savvy, Fireborn, Stout, Recondite, Brilliant.

for levels 22 and 42 im taking +to health because SK's obviously need health, levels 8 28 and 48 im taking int because we need mana for lifetaps and it increases spell effectivness, which is needed with SKs.

*edit* changed lvl 8 char trait to clever

Versitility is pretty nice trait to have. Not just + to weapon, it also affect your spells and DEFENSE to help you out during your entire life. It's pretty powerful trait to have. I quickly picked that first thing when it came out with ROK, I enjoyed it alot.

3% health is great to have as well especially at high level where the return is bigger, I would do 3% hp after versitility. Rest is more of your personal choice I would say. +5 stamina can be good to support 3% hp and reaver. Bayle's strike is another added dps so it's good.

Yeah, I took Versatility first. I was leaning towards taking Bayle's Strike next, then the 3% hp and +stamina. I figure I'm young yet, I don't need to worry about that edge in survivability just yet.The SK trait that gives +hp, +hp regen, +power, or +power regen is the next thing that has me thinking. I plan on using the reaver line, so thought maybe +power regen was the way to go. I'm not sure, still very new to the game.

Sorry to revive an old thread but i hit search & found this topic about Human Shadowknights.

I'm new to EQ2 & have just started out my first character a SK. After reading this thread i quickly chose the versatility as my first racial trait.

I'm only Lvl 11 & still in the starter area of Gorowyn however i notice on the next level down i have a choice of choosing Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Agility, Stamina. Which would be a better choice? I know STR improves damage, INT gives you a bigger power, STA gives you more Health & Agility gives you a better avoidance but does it really matter at my level or would it be better to build up a certain area like STA, INT etc. My Agi is pretty low at the moment as i only have quested armor and can't afford MC stuff yet all though i have made a few gold by selling moths & shards.

Onto resistances, like Magic, Poison, Disease etc but again does this really matter what i choose at my level?

Also with Masters II i've been told to go Infernal Blessing as my Master 2 when i get it but what spells should i look to make Adept 3? Was thinking Unholy Weapon as i don't get my upgrade until Lvl 24 i think & i've just harvested an Alkaline Loam. Btw i'm a Alchemist too as i figured this would help. What should an SK look to make mostly Adept 3? I will be soloing mostly to start off until 40's as i am catching up with friends.

I've read Master II's you should keep your life taps up so at Lvl 24 should i choose Grim Harbinger or is there a lvl 24 Master 2 choice similar to Infernal Blessing? Also i've noticed that there is no lifetap for Lvl 34 so i guess Dot would be better to Master?

I've also read it's best to start out on 4-4-8 Int then go down the Reaver line after that i will look to see where i need to focus my AA's as i hope to have caught up.

Sorry for all the questions but thanks for any advice in advance

with some fairly recent nerfs to our buffs, STR becomes a bit harder to come by. Our offensive stance provides lots of INT.

SKs get more power from STR than from INT - so boosting STR gives you higher damage on your auto attacks and more power for your spells. Buffs will balance INT out quickly and increase spell damage too.

4-4-8 INT will get you 68% spell crits - pretty much a standard for SKs (spell crits will also generate critical heals on the spells that have a component like that) Reaver is a fairly good choice for starters too. The current availablilty of AA points will allow you to get the 3 endlines in the EoF tree if that is what you desire. (2 full lines in the Crusader tree + 4-4-8 INT as well)

As for M2 choices - Id go with something you are going to use every fight, taunts - specifically the group taunt (with its added Disease debuff) are a good bet (EoF AA lines have 2 boosts for group taunt - Effectiveness and Harder to resist, one for single target taunt - Harder to resist). Check the broker and rare costs - see which of the choices you have is the most expensive and choose that as your M2 - filling out the rest of your spellbook with cheaper M1s and AdeptIIIs made from rares (if you like that is).
