Do you really need all the trade skills? As a ex-wow player I only had 2 major skills and some minor (i.e cooking), but here I got to gather lumber, mine ore, collect stuff, it is really hard to keep up with everything. As a Wizard, what skill should I concentrate on? Also, are wizards considered FOTM (Flavor of the month) and always excessive to the point shouting LFG group anything will only bring laughter and groans? I been a healer and tank in WoW all the time, and I am really tired of both duties...

Those skills are just for harvesting. It's not that hard, just click on the harvestables and they'll ding up rather quickly. The level cap increases each time you level, by 5 points. It takes all of 2 minutes to harvest a few nodes to bring each one up to the new cap. Harvesting also gets you rare items, worth varying amounts of coin. Those are worth money on the broker, and if you have a tradeskill, you may be able to use them to make Mastercrafted items, also worth some coin on the market. In regards to tradeskilling, you can only have one. My suggestion would be to look up some of the info on http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/news_page.php

Unlike WOW, you can only have one tradeskill you can become proficient in. For a wizard some good choices are:

Sage - To make your own spell upgrades.Tailor - To make your own robes and other cloth armor.Provisioner - To keep yourself in food and drink. (Which helps with health and power regen.)

You can do any of the other tradeskills as you wish. The tradeskill quest is a good way to find out what professions make what. And, on down the road, if you find you don't like the profession you chose, you can respec into a different tradeskill (starting back at level 1).

Depending on what profession you eventually choose, you will want to pay close attention to certain nodes, because you will want certain rares for your Mastercrafted items. (Sages use rare precious metals for their Adept 3 spells. Taliors look for rare roots.) Any other rares you pick up can be sold for a good amount of coin to other players. Also, rare wood harvests are used to make the specialized vendor containers, which can be made by carpenters and save other players a broker fee by coming to your apartment/house and buying directly from your crate.

I agree with Paladin776, those are some good choices for a tradeskill for a wizzy..Also remember, that no matter your Tradeskill choice, you can harvest ALL nodes in the game.. you can make extra cash that way as well if you harvest more then you need and sell to the community via your house or broker

Keep your harvesting skills maxed for each level. There are quests that REQUIRE you to be able to harvest various node types. If you don't have the skill level when you get the quest, you'll be wasting a lot of time in grey levels trying to maximize the neglected ones.
