My semester just ended and instead of spending my days doing homework, I've had some free time to be able to work on some long overdue quest cleanup. I decided that my first priority was tome pages because I hate seeing my journal so full of them.

I got out my handy-dandy Ripchi's Tracking Sheet and began hunting down all my missing pages. For the Desert of Flames expansion, I needed several pages to finish off all the tomes. I went to the Shimmering Citadel, got those, visited all the locs in the Pillar of Flames and then decided to start killing the gray mobs for the body drops.

At this point I only had three tomes to finish: Legends of the Dragons, Rules of the Sandscrawler Clan and Trinni's Adventures Abroad. I spent about an hour killing the goblins and the desert lunatics/prophets and got my pages for Legends of the Dragons and Rules of the Sandscrawler Clan. I couldn't find much info on where to get page 15 for Trinni's so I hit eq2.allakhazam and lootdb.com for reference. Lootdb.com showed that most of the goblins in PoF dropped the page so I concentrated on them.

I killed and killed... and killed and killed and killed... and killed some more and then my eyes started bugging out of my head. I killed so much I couldn't stop because I figured if I had wasted that much time, I couldn't stop until I had the page. So I killed more and more and more. After 1568 kills (I parsed out my log file to get this exact number) I gave up.

So.... for one page drop, which never dropped by the way, I killed almost 1600 mobs. Either this page was designed to never drop or I was so incredibly unlucky it isn't even funny.

Here's another quick note. A couple of weeks ago I was doing Bone Bladed Claymore and was killing goblins inside of Runny Eye, while I was in there I got THREE pages to drop for EL Tome Collections, but that was only after 787 kills. I know this because I checked my counter on the last one.

Sony, please... make the Tome pages doable, make them fun. As of now, the only ones that I've been able to complete in a reasonable amount of time were the new RoK ones, and yes that actually felt like an accomplishment and I enjoyed finding the pages. All the ones from other zones are ridiculous.
