Did a search but can't find any new/reliable info. Is there any update on this? Am sick of paying the ridiculously high fee for transfer to other account or server. Would be a nice xmas gift to the players...

I would'nt really worry about it right now...I predict some server merges anytime soon. I play alot, and i can feel it coming just by observing the population and attitude of all in gc...just imho though i've seen this coming for awhile...this game will end up as uber cronie type guilds like lineage2 whereas only the dedicated old farts hangout (no kids allowed) unless there are more peeps on the servers.

maybe, maybe not. every server was medium to heavy (other than the RP exchange server) every day the past few. granded alot of folks are off for the holidays but if there's that many subs that it could show medium to heavy on everything then there's not too low of a subscriber base. dont wave the dying game flag just yet

It started back around the release fo ROK and has not tapered off yet. The only servers that where consistently in the light catagory where the Station Exchange and the PVP servers.. There is zero need to merger any servers

On AB the server has really been struggling under the weight of the high population. Although the crashing has reduced, there are still crazy zoning times and lag. There are multiple threads on the server forum asking for free transfers off by people hoping to more to a less populous server. So if they open up free transfers I suspect it would be due to too high population rather than too low.

Well, if you want to move that badly ...pay up.....Others did....don't expect to get anything for free. Do the calculations. What will it cost to install a new ..brand new server and use it to expand ..say AB...and remember AB is NOT a single hardware server but several "servers" acting as one..as AB.Well, lets assume a wild number of $30000 US...If SOE would open up AB for free transfer then a LOT of people will move off and as I understand whole guilds have asked for free moves... its $50 a character..divide 30000/50 and you get 600.I bet more than 600 characters are wanting to be moved for free heck the average person probably has 5 or more alts so this number will be reached by probably less then 100 accounts. I bet someone at SOE ha already gone through those calculations and that is precisely why you don't find anything. And people move ..and pay..everyday. Heck my wife and I moved as soon as character transfer was available and we did it about 5 minutes apart and within that time the transaction number for server transfer was 700 higher. From SOEs point of view it is cheaper to install new hardware then to give anyone free server transfer.J.C.

I transferred several chars around at the time. Was maybe... 6 months ago? I could be off on the time, not good with that.

From SOEs point of view it is cheaper to install new hardware then to give anyone free server transfer.J.C.
Interesting SOE mentallity here. While yes it may be easier for SOE just to add new servers and make us pay for the transfers as usual, every once in awhile its good business sense to give away stuff to keep your clients happy (or get new ones in). Case in point "open a savings account with us and get a free toaster" People tend to open more savings accounts during that time then during the "We are the best bank around ... open a savings account with us" periods. On a different note while $50 may not seem like a lot if you have 1 toon that you play always no exceptions add in the people that have multiple accounts with multiple alts / crafters you can see where these types may just stay on servers where they are unhappy due to the astronomical price to move off it. Would be nice to see SOE do one of 2 things1. Open a period of free transfers (Could be short 1-5 days for those serious about moving, less impact to SOEs bottom line)2. Offer a multiple toon discount (Again short time frame, less impact)All in all that will keep many happy and lead us to believe SOE actually gives a crap about us their bottom line.

Yeah they did 2 rounds of free transfers so far. One in conjunction with mergers and one right around the time of EoF if I am not mistaken. I remember this vividly as I took advantage of it to swap accounts of a couple of my toons.

Soe did give a free sever transfer and in fact it was very recent. An entire raid guild, including all of their alts, complete with plat, fabled armor etc was transfered from the test server (which is a non-transferable server) to a regular sever. So, soe does give free transfers even from severs that state once your toon is there is can never transfer off it. No money and no merger was involved in this transfer.
